Larkspring draws his steel and races up the bridge to help where he can but he seems to have fallen behind a bit.
The two elves in the merchant stalls launch arrows at Sabriel when they see her. One hits her in the shoulder and the other get caught up in one of the clothes hanging down between stalls. (7 hps dam).
Leaping from the building and landing with a little pain, Triska quickly aims and launches an arrow at one of the elves firing at Sabriel. She hits one of the elves in the thigh who yells in pain and turns to see who hurt him but then notices the female he just fired upon charging him, she swings but luckly misses her aim more for his brother than him. But a moment later a big claw comes in and pounds the wounded elf in the arm ripping it open. The elf manages to stay on his feet and prepares his next attack.
After a quick duck into one of the building to reload, Tegid races down the bridge past the bear heading for the elf he wounded earlier. As he just passes the food stores building he hears a whistle kind of call and seconds later the double doors to the building burst open and out comes a massive beast about 8 feet tall, broad chested, covered with pure white fur and looks to weigh about 800 pounds. It looks to be somekind of ape creature but no ape you have ever seen has four arms. It screams in rage and advances on the first thing it sees......Tegid continues his run for the Ballista platform and turns to see one very angry creature.......

Larkspring dashes up the bridge further trying to get up to where all the action is and help his friends anyway he can.
The wounded elf turns and attempts to attack the bear with his spear but it gets caught up in some cloth hanging down from the stalls. He yells at the four armed creature for help. The other elf jabs out with his spear at Sabriel and misses by inches. An elf can be seen by some coming out of the toll booth, spear in hand, making his way down the bridge.
Triska fires off a shots at the large creature and is successful with both. The beast roars but seems unfazed by the wounds.
The elf attacking Sabriel manages to get his spear up to defend himself but it does not help the faster lady who slices him open deeply. He stands there amazed at how the sword snuck in to wound him, he shakes it off thou with a snarl and prepares to attack the lady again.
Fir easily finishes off the elf standing in front of him, both paws slaming into the poor elf.

As Larkspring moves into attack the elf who takes the opportunity to make a quick attack of his own. He thrusts with his spear at the gnome but the spear bounces off. The elf then turns back to Sabriel who he has been engaged with already and makes his attack stabbing Sabriel in the thigh drawng blood as he pulls the spear out, he takes a hit from the gnome who had stepped up to help his friend. He slashes out with his scimitar opening up the elf again. Sabriel mad at being wounded by the elf thrusts and scores the final hit on the elf's life who sinks to his knees then toppling over. The other elf seeing his last brother fall, shoulders his bow, gives a whistle, turns and runs for the jungle. The elf glances back to see if his guardian friend is coming from hs call but instead sees the gorilla get mauled by a huge bear. The bear tears it to pieces, four arms going in all directions, white furs a flying. Tegid moves up to the heavily panting bear who looks at him wearly but lets him touch him, the healing energy flows through wounds healing fast. No other enemies can be seen, for a few minutes the bridge is quiet but slowly the regular jungle noises come back to life....
Battle over! State your new actions!

Sabriel Angelfire |

Sabriel looks down at her thigh and an audible sigh of relief can be heard as she sees that her dress is not ruined. Luckily the elf struck through one of the slits in it. She quickly bends over and rips a piece of cloth from the elf's clothes and wipes away the blood, holding it there to try and stop the bleeding.
Turning to the others she says, "can someone tell me what in the nine hells that was all about? Who were they, what is or rather was that, who are you and do you have any more of that healing?" She directs the last two comments at Tegid.

Tegid Darnin |

"Greetings. My name is Tegid Darnin. I am a follower of Irori, the all-knowing, and I am certainly glad to see you four." Tegid says as he approaches the group.
Turning to the others she says, "can someone tell me what in the nine hells that was all about? Who were they, what is or rather was that, who are you and do you have any more of that healing?" She directs the last two comments at Tegid.
"Let me have a look at the wound."
As he's tending to Sabriel, "By the looks of it that beast was one of the rare four-armed jungle apes native to this area. I've seen a few in the wild during my research but I have never seen one tamed. The elves are a group native to the region as well but because they are usually pretty reclusive I have not had a chance to study them."
Knowledge: Local (untrained) to see what I know about the jungle elves. (1d20+2=20)
After tending to Sabriel's wounds he stands and turns to the rest. "Besides our furry friend here does anyone else need their wounds tended?"

I assume Sabriel was fully healed by Tegid?
Fir's fully healed; I don't know which roll to use for Larkspring. He's only 7 hp below full health. From what I've seen, before they were healed Sabriel had taken 7 damage and Triska took 6. Is there any beyond that? Larkspring's just a bit anxious to show that he's important too.
Larkspring grasps the stranger's hand and shakes it firmly. "We haven't found any survivors. A few days ago, as we were coming upriver, we found an abandoned boat. Methinks the elves haven't just attacked here?"
"My companions and I, including a sorcerer of some kind who seems to have wandered off during the battle, were hired to protect the ship down at the dock there. If it had not been for you, I think we would have fared poorly. A servant of Irori, eh? He's a little too human-centered for my tastes; doesn't seem to care about the world beyond those who serve him. Just my opinion, though."
Larkspring looks down towards the dock, ascertaining whether the ship and remaining crew are in one piece.

Triska of the Shundar-Quah |

Triska accepts the healing gratefully, but eyes the stranger suspiciously, and keeps her bow handy. When Larkspring finishes speaking, she asks, "And what about you, stranger? What is your business here? Why is a man like you wandering alone this deep in the jungle?"
Sorry for the long absence, people! But I'm back now!

Tegid Darnin |

"It's unfortunate that even amongst those who love knowledge you find such bigotry. I think they often forget the reason for studying and gathering knowledge."
Triska accepts the healing gratefully, but eyes the stranger suspiciously, and keeps her bow handy. When Larkspring finishes speaking, she asks, "And what about you, stranger? What is your business here? Why is a man like you wandering alone this deep in the jungle?"
"I came to this land to conduct research on the jungle, since none of my colleagues have ventured into the Mwangi and I did not come alone. I came with Galu, my trusted mule, and my servant, Darguk. We had been out in the jungle for the last two weeks collecting samples of plants and animals and making sketches of some ruins that I found. I came back to the camp site after spending the day exploring and documenting the architecture of the ruins we found when I discovered the remains of Galu and Darguk. Apparently those damn bastards killed Darguk while he slept and used all of my research and sketches to start a fire to cook Galu with. Ahhhh, I will miss Galu. He was a good companion and all he asked for was the occasional bag of oates and to have his ears scratched. He probably would have out lived me if it was not for those bastards."

The battle is over and the heroes all survived it with wounds that are now healed with the help of their new friend. Larkspring glaces over the rail of the bridge and sees that the boat is fine and safe. He can see the Captain and Faruq moving about the boat, Faruq, bow drawn back watching the jungle on both sides of the river. The day seems to go back to normal except for the dead bodies laying around on the bridge and the absence of bodies from the former occupants who were stationed here....

Tegid Darnin |

Tegid quickly checks to see if any of the elves are still alive and if so he stabilizes them with a Cure Minor Wounds then ties them up with his rope his intention to take them aboard the ship and question them about the attack.
Afterward he searches all of the buildings for any survivors and any information about what might have happened.
Lastly, he lends the others a hand gathering any supplies they need and joins them on the boat.
"I hope you don't mind me joining you but I would rather not stay behind and my expertise may be of use on the trip up river."

![]() |

Arcophage is a form of fungal parasite creature that attaches itself to mobile plant creatures! Once in the plant creature it magically starts to make copies of itself
Larkspring grabs what is left of the arcophage, you can see a trail of plant matter out of the store house, around the corner of the building and over the rail of the bridge. A few spores can be seen around the store room but they don't look that heathly. Lark and Fir head back down to the boat to show the Captain and Hurg.
Tegid takes time to check the elves bodies but finds all of them quite dead, no chance to cure or help them now. The ones that Fir got to are ripped to shreds, pieces of elf everywhere. After checkng the bodies is done he moves on to check each building, each one he enters is in shambles, furniture broken, paper ripped or burnt, glass broken, food supplies thrown about to name a few. He finds it curious also that he finds no bodies of the residents of the bridge, no evidence except blood splatter, the elves must have taken the bodies with them or thrown them over into the river never to be seen again. Eventually he heads back to the boat to join the Larkspring who is chatting with the Captain and Hurg about the unusable arcophage, the magical properties are gone with the creatures being dead or close to it. The Captain tells you that the station was equipted to continue to keep the arcophage alive with spells of restoration......

Sabriel Angelfire |

Sabriel uses Detect Magic on the Elves' bodies to determine if any of their equipment is magical and perhaps useful. She also checks the mutant gorilla as well just to make sure. [ooc]If she finds anything she will put it aside and (providing it is not excessive amounts of gear) will carry it back to the boat.
She helps the others relay the description of the attack making sure to interject with "dirty" and "smelly" a number of times when describing the Elves and their pet.

![]() |

"Greetings Captain. My name is Tegid Darnin, a priest of Irori. Perhaps I can be of assistance. What kind of spells of restoration are needed? I may be able to cast the necessary spells myself."
Greetings Tegid, I heard you were a big help in the successful disposal of those pesky jungle elves. I thank you for you help. As for help with the arcophage, these last spores are to far gone to be of any help even with your spell of restoration. The magic we need is just gone and I am afraid the rest that were thrown over the bridge into the river are a lost call. It would take to much time trying to dive down and look for them and most likely they have all ready floated down river. Oh, and by the way my name is Captain Kelim Esteban, this half orc of a brute is my firstmate Faruq and below you will find Hurg who keeps this boat going making sure the engine is working. He rarely comes topside so you know.
He pauses thinking, then says, I know of a place we should be able to find some, its a little detour but we will never make it all the way to Nightfall station with what we got. We will leave as soon as the rest of the party is back aboard
Sabriel checks the elves bodies for magic or other things of importance, using her arcane knowledge, she quickly casts a spell to locate any auras on the bodies, she sees a faint presence of magic coming from each of the dead elves from around their necks. They seem to be only a small charm made of bound sticks and ornamental stones. Other than that, you find only longbows, masterwork short spears and thoses wicked arrows they were firing at you all. The arrow head seems to be made of thistle.
Tegid thinking about all that he searched on the bridge remembers all of a sudden he forgot about the locked door to the armory in his hurry to get done and down to the boat before it the Captain decides to leave. It seemed to be reinforced which is why he thought to come back to it. Looking around he sees Sabriel and Larkspring on the boat with the rest of the crew but Triska is still up on the bridge.

Tegid Darnin |

"Before we leave. I noticed that the door to the armory was still locked. It might be worth getting the door open and seeing if there is anything inside that might be of use for our journey especially if these elves come back looking for more trouble."
Tegid heads back up to the armoury and tries to open the door. Sure that the door is locked he takes a few moments to inspect the door and its construction.
What does the door look like, what is it made of, how thick is it, and can I see the lock?

Tegid Darnin |

Larkspring climbs the steps to look at the door, Fir at his side.
"Perhaps we could batter it down? I'm afraid I've used all my spells of strength for the day, but Fir could try."
"I think I have a spell that might make this a little easier..."
Once I get a description of the door I am going to cast Shatter on it in hopes of opening it up. Zoom how would you handle this? Is the door one solid piece such that I could shatter it whole or do I have to pick a specific piece of it? Can I see the bolt that is holding the door in place?

Sabriel Angelfire |

Sabriel gathers up the necklaces How many?, looking them over and deciding that they look too common for her tastes, sticks, really. She offers them to the rest of the party though.
She also brings the arrows to the attention of Triska. "Those might be of use to you, they appear to be made from some kind of plant."

The door is one solid piece of wood which would shatter it into pieces. Its a simple bolt that is the locking device but you can tell there is something else that is involve with this door making it difficult to unlock. The door is very thick, painted white, looks worn from all of the rain and humidity and starting to warp at the bottom.

Everyone stands back as Tegid goes through the motions of casting his divine help. Plus the thistles are from a toxic plant which would cause even more damage the longer they stay in a person or thing. 25% chance of becoming embedded, 1 additional pt dam each round from the sap and 1d3 pts damage if the target pulls them out to fast or does not perform a heal check!

After everyone is back aboard the boat the Captain asks if everyone is ready to make way.........
