Guardians of the Galaxy

They're back, and more like a fantasy adventuring party than ever before. This book is full of action and the one liners had me ROLLING. I strongly suggest this book- it may just get you reading marvel regularly again.

Were there any references to the original series?

Sovereign Court

Heh, Rocket Raccoon is on the team!

No references to the original team are made, although there is a chance that Cap's shield may come into play as a bit of an homage to the previous series.

Silver Crusade

Man, I hope they tone back the named-character body count from what Annihilation was dealing with. Especially since it turns out every member of the groups is a character I genuinely like.

Characters I like haven't fared so well in the last few years of books from both Marvel and DC.

I agree completely, although I am a die hard Green Lantern and Legion of Super Heroes fan on the DC side, and a new Guardians of the Galaxy and New Warriors fan on the Marvel side. These over the top crossovers are making me sick.

Honestly, the ones that die seem to be the lucky ones sometimes.

Liberty's Edge

Who all's in it? Is Starlord? I love Starlord.

Sovereign Court

Yes, he's in it.
Check out the badass art wikipedia had of him:
Here.

Liberty's Edge

Sweeeeeet.

The roster is eclectic to say the least, and the introductions are great- a nice curriculum vitae debrief with their name, powers, and where they fit on the team. Here goes..

Star-Lord
Peter Jason Quill
Half Terran/Half Spartan
No enhanced abilities

Quasar
Phyla-Vell
Half eternal/Half Kree
Possesses the Quantum Bands

Gamora(read: my wife after a few months in the gym and green makeup)
Zen Whoberian
Enhanced Biology, Advanced Combat Skills

Rocket Raccoon
Evolved Mammal
Tactical and Demolitions Expert

Adam Warlock
Cosmic Being,
Enhanced Biology, Metaphysical Energy Manipulation

Drax
Destroyer, Ex Human
Enhanced Biology
Advanced Combat Skills

Cosmo(Okay, he doesn't have a debrief, but he's a talking telepathic/telekinetic dog that got lost in space thanks to the old Russian space program back in the 60's. He's a laugh riot).

Mantis
Celestial Madonna
Empath, Telepath, Pyrokinetic

Quotes of the Issue-

"And I thought, Geez, LOUISE...THAT ain't from around here." Rocket Raccoon

"How about Rocket Raccoon and His Human Hangers On?"

"How about Drax and his Coonskin Cap?"

Rocket Raccoon and Drax the (former) Destroyer trying to figure out a name for the team.
