Illusionary script and dispel. (urgent please!)

3.5/d20/OGL

Alright, I've read the description for the Illusionary Script Spell and the description for Dispel. (those of you answering the need only look in the PHB for descriptions.) So, here's the problem/question.

One of my villians is sending a written message to a NPC-soon to be villian... using Illusionary script to hide the message. However, the party that plans on intercepting the scroll has a fairly powerful wizard that can cast dispel on the scroll...
..so..

if dispel magic essentially negates all magic on a targeted item, does the Illusionary script disappear for the duration? or is it destroyed like a mordikainen's disjuction? ....

... and in regardless to the script itself.. if an PC makes the save and can speak the language, are they able to read the script, or does the information stay secretive and the pc safe from the suggestion?

please answer quickly... this instant is coming up in our next two weekly gaming sections.

Since the description for Illusory script says that dispel magic causes the script and its secret message to disappear, I would say that if the item containing the script is hit with a targeted dispel, they're out of luck if what they're trying to do is read the message. Also it says that the message can only be deciphered with the use of true seeing and either read magic or comprehend languages. I would guess that if you use true seeing and it happens to be a language that they know you wouldn't be too far off to allow someone to read it without the second part. Not the technical rules, but...Also, if they do an area dispel then they are somewhat likely to destroy the illusory script even if they don't mean to.

Liberty's Edge

Dispel Magic normally doesn't completely negate a permanent or long term magic affect on an item its cast on, instead it normally suppresses it for a 10 minute duration(see arcane lock, magic weapons, ect for examples).

If you want the players(or even the NPC) to still have a chance of receiving this note, you may wish to rule that way, so that the information isn't totally lost. There is precedent for it.

thanks a lot guys!

This weekend will be the session where I hope the party will find the Illusionary Script scroll.
Thanks for everything!

yeah .. it worked ...

The party Rogue spent 5 rnds attempting to slit his wrist. Oddly enough, he seemed rather amused by it after the Wizard cast Dispel magic on him.
