Ok, so PF #7 gave us a look at the Varisians (real cool). I see PF#10 will take us into the Cinderlands to the Shoanti (cant wait for this one). So...

When can we expect an article on the Chelaxians? I looked ahead throught the third AP, and I dont see it listed on any of the previews. It would have been nice to have this info a little sooner being that they are the three human types in Varisia.

It's not a whole article, but there is a GREAT deal of information about Cheliax and Chelaxians in the Gazetteer, which finally comes out this month.

At this point... the Chelaxians of Varisia aren't really Chelaxians any more. They've pretty much become the "generic people" of Varisia—unlike the Varisians and Shoanti, who have a lot of flavor and unusual stuff going on beyond the plain vanilla "D&D person."

That said... It's looking like we'll be setting Adventure Path 4 in Cheliax, so you'll be seeing plenty of info about them there. Until then, the upcoming Gazetteer and Hardcover Campaign Setting will give you a few tidbits.

Cool. With so many things coming out this month, I forgot about the gazetteer. And think, we're just the customers:) Thanks.

Generic? Vanilla? Heresy!

You, sir, have obviously not attended a breakfast of riddles, or laid the blessed coin of Abadar upon your newborn's brow, or had your lintels silvered, or given the ribbonbread to your betrothed. Have you even practiced your slytongue with a bound devil? We are colonialists, children of an exodus, and our courage and rectitude is a beacon in this backward land. We are nothing if not exceptional.

I don't want to make to broad a comparason between the two worlds, but in my mind I am starting to see certain parallels (so far) between the main ethnicities of Varisia and those of Flaness/Greyhawk.

Suloise:Chelaxians - Heirs to a powerful empire; slightly aloof and domineering; wishing for a return to dominance.

Flan: Shoanti - The original natives of the land; more nature-oriented and tribal; tend to be bound to the "old-ways"; barbarian-types.

Oeridian-Rehnee:Varisians: This one is a little more fluid. The Rehnee seem more akin to the Varsians in cultural norms; but that implication that they are the inheritors of a deeper legacy harkens to the Oeridians and their Great Kingdom.

Its not a perfect match; and personally I find Varisia's people more dynamic in flavor. Still, it's the kind of old-school vibe that gives the setting a layer of familiarity.
