I've noticed some people on these boards who are excited by 4e and were disappointed by Paizo's decision. I myself plan to be playing 4e in a few months, but I'm actually quite excited by Paizo's decision as I'd like to see their take on a 3.5 cleanup. It really was the best decision from their point of view - most of their customers planned to stay with 3.5 and now they'll always have control over their property without worrying about the winds of WotC change.
I'm still optimistic because I can still convert. WotC says it will now be much easier and less time consuming to create adventures and come up with game stats, so I think tweaking won't be nearly as difficult. And if this isn't the case, I'm not sure I'll want to be playing 4e anyway.
Secondly, Necromancer Games announced they will be doing 4e APs. My guess, since Paizo and Necromancer are kind of sister organizations, many of the same authors will be helping out Necromancer. And many of the authors for Paizo also write for Wizards.
Would I have liked Paizo to go 4e? Sure. I really like their stuff. But I also see what is to be gained by this choice. These are exciting times, with a lot of great options by fantastic designers.

Oh, yeah, I'm definitely pleased for Paizo and all of its fans. I'll definitely buy the Pathfinder RPG when it comes out.
But, unfortunately, I won't be able to play it. I've spoken with my group, offhand for a few and went to lunch with my best friend (co-DM of my group) and they are all pretty fierce on not playing 3.5 any longer. Even for playtest purposes for a new game system based on it (but still basically 3.5). I think they're burned out with the game, have bad memories, and are looking for certain things that are too fundamental to 3.5 to change.
So, I guess it's a little bit of bittersweet. Not because I think it was a bad move, but because I can't go along for the ride. I don't want to butt in the playtest threads with people who are actually getting real data playing and who love 3.5 so I guess I'm just trying to keep out of the way.
Paizo, best of luck to you in your efforts. You guys are the best. And you other posters around here are alright too, I suppose. I wish you guys good things in your games and lives. Take care y'all. :-)

Well, I was hoping to play the 4th edition Pathfinder.
Life is never perfect so it does not matter...
Nevertheless, I am happy that Necro games will make adventure paths for 4th edition. Having in mind that paizo staff will also contribute to them, I am excited. I hope that they will create a setting too. I like the support that Golarion has and I would like to see it for other 4th edition setting too.
I fully respect paizo and their decision. I'll always be around to check their products. For me is the best company in the industry after WoTC.

Yes, I'm very happy that Necro is doing some 4E adventure paths. Working with Paizo to do these, in whatever way, is just win win.
However, after reading a few of the things going around I've realized that I really don't want to witness the initial (hopefully quick) Paizo vs. 4E that might go down, especially with this all being high profile right now. I love 4E, and I absolutely love Paizo. But at this time I can't contribute to Paizo's efforts since I can't playtest the game and, to be honest, have no real desire to play 3E in any way. I just want Paizo to succeed, and I think Paizo RPG is the best route for them.
Having nothing real to offer, and not wanting my opinions to mix up or interfere with the new game accomplishing its goal of supporting the large 3.5 market, I'll be taking a break from these boards for a while. Probably from all boards (anti-Paizo vs. anti-4E is like seeing two friends fight, bleh). I've made a lot of good friends here, from all corners, and want everyone to know that I think you guys are the absolute best. Lisa, Erik, you guys are absolutely top shelf.
I'll probably be back when 4E comes out so I can help with the Pathfinder conversions.
Much love guys. Keep the community rocking and rolling. :)

I was looking forward to play Pathfinder in 4e, but that won't happend now. My money now goes to the Forgotten Realms. I will look over the AP from Necromance but i'm not sure if i buy it.
This is my last post here because Paizo has nothing that they can sell to me but i wish them good luck with Pathfinder RPG. They will need it.

Aye, 'tis a sad day for those hoping for 4E Paizo. I'm glad for those happy with the choice, but I'm afraid it doesn't really work for me.
If Paizo had chosen to stick soley to 3.5, I could see returning to it sometime, someday, but I'm not sure I want to learn a different system, and I doubt my players do either. So in many ways, this seems to be the absolute worst choice Paizo could have made for me.
Sigh. I wish them the best of luck, but I doubt I'll be around for the ride.

Seconded. While I'm thrilled that Paizo is fixing some of the problems I have with 3.5 (and I seem to recall some of the most vocal 3.5 defenders on here arguing they weren't problems) I'm afraid a number of my problems with 3.5 are deeper and more structural.
Unfortunately, I suspect Paizo's decision will irrevocably fracture the gaming community here. Many people who were already down on 4e--either because they hate Wizards, or they don't like the fluff changes, or they've already decided they don't like the rules based on the little information that's out there--will use the Pathfinder RPG as an excuse not to switch. Others, like me, are going to switch at the first opportunity. I don't see a lot of middle ground. And that means games are going to be harder to find.
As for the Paizo boards, I don't know if anyone who's even moderately pro-4e has felt exactly welcome here. With the PRPG announcement, that's only gotten worse, and with Paizo now the de facto anti-4e company I don't see that changing any time soon. I have no desire to discuss whether things 4e is going to fix will or won't be fixed in a hypothetical new system. With PRPG patching a number of the same problems, the debates are just going to devolve to arguing whether Wizards sucks on principle. And that's not a debate I'm willing to have.
In short, I'm going back to lurking. I'll be by occasionally, but not with the frequency I have in the past. It's possible I'll start posting with regularity again--maybe in a couple months, maybe after 4e gets released, maybe after Origins or GenCon--but until then I'll just wish everyone luck, especially Paizo and their stellar writing and production team, and I hope Paizo decides to start publishing 4e adventure paths sooner rather than later.
Edited to add: Since this seem like the last chance I'll have to pimp my own projects, I'll just say I've been working with a group who have been creating their own 4e setting and Adventure Path. It's called Harvestlands, and it's a darker setting where devils and demons fight a proxy war across much of the land, the elves have disappeared, the dwarves have been overrun by duergar, and the gnomes have started experimenting on humans. We're looking for volunteers who think this sounds interesting to help flesh out the world and plot the Adventure Path. And since we don't have the 4e rules, it's completely rules-free at the moment. And we've no objection to people contributing a 3.5 (or PRPG) conversion, which we could release alongside the 4e one, if anyone's interested in that particular task.
