Arthur C. Clarke died today at age 90.
I was just thinking of 2001: a Space Odyssey today.
I can't believe he chose to pass on to the galaxies beyond on the very same day as the big Paizo announcement.

You know, there are now not that many of the old SF greats left?
I know we still have their modern successors, but these days SF tends to be more pop-fiction than deep exploration of scientific and ethical ideas.
Where are our generation's versions of Orson Scott Card, Lois Bujold McMaster, Arthur C Clarke? It really makes you think.
Edit: It's OK, I found them... they're playing Command and Conquer right now, they'll start writing as soon as they finish this level.
They promise.

There's always Allen Steele His work always has an old skool SF feel to it.
