Effan tries to turn away from the musty brown cloud, but inhales part of it anyway. Coughing and wretching, he slumps to the floor.
Con damage + damage from the carnivorous hood = 0 hp
Dude, your first fort save is 12 (11,1),not 9 (7,2) that was your reflex save, so you made the fort saves, both of them.

As the rat climbs amongst the books and fungus a huge cloud of spores erupts from the disturbed fungus, bringing tears to your eyes and eliciting gagging coughs from your throat.

Reflex: 11 + 4 = 15; Fortitude: 12 + 0 = 12. Barely made it.
Keegan gets a lungful of the spores, but it doesn't seem to affect him much. After a few seconds of hacking coughs, hacks up a cloud of black smoke and red sparks.

Oops. Saving throw dyslexia. Thanks, Fakey.
Effan dodges the spore cloud and remains standing, waving the wreck of his hat to blow the spores away.

Effan Effluvium |

Folded between the last pages of the book is a divine scroll that looks to be able to call into existence a spiritual weapon to fight for the scroll's user. (Spiritual Weapon scroll)
There doesn't appear to be any ironbloom mushrooms in the open.
Once the spores disperse, Effan continues his examination of the book. A sheet of paper falls free. "Hmm, this seems to have some magic about it. Can anyone read this?" can anyone use the scroll? If not Effan will hang on to it for later investigation.
Then he takes one last look around the room for iron bloom 'shrooms. Keeping well back to avoid another spore cloud, he'll use mage hand to move books on the shelf to see behind them. take 10 on perception to spot/search

Hozs Ferryman |

I do not think spiritual weapon is on the druid list, but as a divine spell it is probably something I can fake. and I have scribe scroll. Except H has the int of a rat, well two rats technically.
"Uhmmm.... I do not know, but it looks like some of the nature secrets Miss Squeeker taught me." Hozs will study the scroll while exploring the next room. "Cough cough"

Effan looks around one last time. "Well, that looks like it. Shall we try the closed door across the hall?"

Effan Effluvium |

Jaden waits by the door, and looking into the room when they all start coughing.
"Are we all right?"

He gives the party the 'all clear' sign and backs away so someone can open it.

Keegan jams his knife into the lock, and after a moment's fiddling around, realizes he can't get it out.
He tugs mightily, planting one foot on the door. Still stuck.
Finally, he plants both feet on the door, holding the knife's handle with both hands. That does it. He falls to the floor, landing on his back like a turtle.

" That went as planed, in a retarted kind of way."
Despite all of Jaden's ideas of quietly opening the door, the door is actually very easy to open and well-maintained, making barely a squeak as he pulls the door open. Beyond lies what looks to be a sitting room with a single table and a pair of chairs, all in fairly good upkeep. Upon the table is clay dish with a half eaten razorcrow on it, and a slightly rusty knife and a cracked clay mug beside it.

Fakey, other doors? fresh razor crow? Is anything on the ceiling, or floor? Please say there's no cookware!
"Looks like someone still lives here?" Effan waits for one of the big 'uns to go first. An injured gnome is a cautious gnome.

What do you mean 'other doors'? This is the door across the hall from the library. A quick search of the ceiling and floor reveal nothing although the ceiling has seen better days.
The room is 10' square with a door exiting in the south wall nearest the southeast corner.Jaden's entry is uneventful, although Effan could almost swear that the clay mug shifted position slightly.

other doors, like one in the south wall. Through which whoever was eating the crow (if its really fresh) could have exited while we bumbled around in the library.
Effan whips out the sonic wand. When the mug doesn't move again he relaxes. "Just nerves."

I think it was a question of any doors existing in the room. Not a statement of said doors actually being there.
Faldor brings his crossbow to hands as he watches down the hallway just in case.

This version always sticks in my head
Hozs takes a look at the dinner. "Odd." "Uhmmm.... do you think mushrooms go well with crow?"

The False DM |

Hozs takes a look at the dinner. "Odd." "Uhmmm.... do you think mushrooms go well with crow?"
As Hozs steps into the room to look over the dinner he stumbles over a thin line strung across the doorway, releasing a shower of plaster and debris from the ceiling.
Four pieces of debris fall toward Hozs, 1d20 5=8 miss, 1d20 5=15 hit, 1d20 5=17 hit, 1d20 5=13 hit, and four more fall around Jaden 1d20 5=20 hit, 1d20 5=15 miss, 1d20 5=15 miss, 1d20 5=6 miss. So 3 hits for Hozs(3d6=8 damage) and 1 for Jaden(1d6=6 damage). A bunch of debris hidden beneath a veneer of plaster is freed from the ceiling. Jaden's armor deflects most of the smaller objects but is struck a vicious blow by a good sized chunk of flagstone. Hozs doesn't fair as well. First one, then another large chunk of stone spins him in place, quickly followed by a loud "GONG" as a small anvil, probably from the farrier of the keep, bounces off of the naturalist's thick head.Perception(hearing) DC15-

Jaden made his reflex to avoid the tripwire without ever knowing about it and I gave Effan and some others some search rolls to find the trap, but you guys didn't roll so well, but I wanted to let you know that your actions weren't ignored when you looked up or down in the room. You just rolled crappy. I love that they included an anvil in the debris! Good module!

Completely ignoring the mayhem, Keegan saunters over to the table. Idly prodding the clay mug with his knifepoint, he picks up the half-cooked crow and begins to gnaw on its still-feathered flesh.

"...one, two, three, uhmmm...." Hozs watches the little birdies make circles about his head. On one pass he sees the anvil that attacked him. Standing up with a scream he smacks miss stick on the offending tool's nose. "Take that!"

The False DM |

It was which makes it so much funnier!
Hozs's head-butt and subsequent thwacking with Miss Stick of the anvil seems to have the desired effect and the chunk of metal is still(er?). I think its all part of a theme Fakey is building. If we hear "Beep, Beep" or "What's up Doc?" run for it.

The False DM |

The door swings open silently and leads into another small chamber that is roughly 10' square. The room is quite cramped with 2 full-sized beds taking up most of the floor area in the room. One bed is covered in bird bones and feathers, a small sack, and an array of old tools (a saw, tongs, a wrench, wooden mallet, and a chisel), while the other looks recently slept in. There is a hole in the wall above the beds just slightly above Jaden's head in height that looks big enough for a gnome or halfling to fit through but a really tight squeeze for a human which leads outside.
