I have to integrate a new player into an existing party, and I'd like to run her through an adventure to gain some XP (current PCs are mostly 2nd level or almost there) and provide some backstory.
Most of what I've found searching for solo adventures are the "solitaire" kind where you're the DM and the PC. Any suggestions for good one-PC stuff? My FLGS had two from Expeditious Retreat, but those were L7-9.
TIA,
Tom

XRP is the only one I know of that makes 1-on-1 adventures. Their whole line is here. They have a one that's a level 2-4 but its for a rogue.

This might be a situation where you have to develop your own little story-line and the encounters to go along with it. There aren't many adventures out there for one character. However, you might be able to alter an existing adventure meant for 4 players into one meant for 1. You'd have to lower the levels of NPCs and reduce the amount of monsters in some encounters, but it shouldn't be impossible.

It shouldn't be hard to make one up: That will allow you to tailor the adventure to the character's needs and abilities. Keep in mind how fragile first level characters are, especially without someone to help them if they go down.

Options for keeping first-level types alive include non-lethal combat and nearby noncombatants that might stabilize a dying PC (after the villain grabs his McGuffin and goes).
Good points from all. Looks like my laziness may not be fulfilled.
Hey, maybe this is a publishing opportunity...

What do you think the market is for one on one modules?

What kind of adventure are you looking for? What setting (if any) are you using? What kind of area are you in? What kind of foes are in the area?

The above module is written for Classic D&D, but I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to convert. I’ve read through it myself and it has some really fun stuff, like a Candy-cane Golem. It is designed for younger players, but I think that older players would get a kick out of it too. Best of all, its’ free.

Thanks for asking. Those are good questions.
- The adventure I'll be merging into is wilderness / rural, so another wilderness adventure, ruin exploration or a dungeon crawl would work - pretty much anything but urban.
- The setting is my homebrew, which is Greyhawk-esque in its level of magic and technology, but features much younger kingdoms built on and exploring the ruins of a destroyed civilization.
- Local foes include humanoids, especially gnolls. The hobgoblin kingdom is one of the major baddies in this setting, but they're a little too far north to play in this part of the campaign. There's a kobold outpost in the area that is trying to reestablish an old temple - that's the next party-wide adventure.
Heck, if nothing else, answering these questions is helping me think of adventure ideas if I have to write it myself. Thanks!
