Linnorm Kings?

I have a very basic question about the Linnorm Kings: Are they, in fact, actual linnorms? Or is that just the rad name that they chose for themselves?
Of course, any other info about them would be appreciated, too. Thanks.

The Linnorm Kings are actually human barbarians. The title "Linnorm King" is something a tough barbarian is awarded when he goes out and kills a linnorm.

I hope to bring "rad" back, actually. Also perhaps "tubular," but that will probably be more difficult.
