Carlotta Shelle |

Carlotta says " Yeah I think the quicker route, because on less lighted streets it will be easier for them to ambush us without our knowing they are there. Also on less well known streets the odds about us getting lost go way up. And the last thing I want to do in this rain is to get lost." In respoonse to Kenny's question she runs a hand through her green hair. "Honestly I have never really tried to blend in with the crowd. Always been more of the standing out type. However i am going to put on my hat because green hair is a sure giveaway."
Honestly I don't think hats and coats would help us that much. I'm guessing the common person isn't all that much safer out there then we are.

As the three reporters head out of the hotel into the rain, they immediatelly find themselves wondering if this is indeed a good idea. The rain pelts down onto them. By the time they reach the first intersection, their clothing is plastered to their bodies and the water is rolling off their brows and into their eyes.
What is worse, the wind howls in a disquieting manner.
You are a block from the hotel. I need a sanity check and a spot check.

Spot check 12. Sanity Check 46.
The ever unaware Kenny rides again!

Carlotta Shelle |

Carlotta is now having second thoughts about this walk and indeed this job. All of this better pay damn well. And I though this was going to be a simple job. How do I always get roped into these things? Carlotta thinks. "I bet my ipod is ruined to and oh crap my laptop is in my backpack." SHe swings the pack off her back and starts trying to shelter it from the worst of the rain. She glances around to see if any horrible monsters or villains have jumped out of the allys.
Spot 10
What is it with my spot checks and tens?
How are we doing sanity checks?

The Chronicler |

What is it with my spot checks and tens?
How are we doing sanity checks?
Carlotta's starting sanity is 50 (5 x's Wis).
Her Maximum Sanity is 99.
A sanity check is a percentile roll that needs to match or come under her current sanity to be successful. The higher your sanity, the easier it is to keep it.

Carlotta Shelle |

Sanity 85 *wince*
Just FYI if you look in my invisible castle history you will see another roll of 1d00 and 1d10 this one I screwed up and ironically probably would have been better for my sanity. :(

The Chronicler |

Carlotta
Carlotta takes 1 point of sanity damage. Her current Sanity is 49.

The Chronicler |

The three reporters/photographers come to a corner, following Kenny's hazy memory of the town and the location of the police station relative to the hotel. Communication in the downpour is difficult to say the least and Kenny has to yell to make himself understood.
Just as Kenny makes his intentions regarding directions clear, a strange voice say gruffly from behind Carlotta and Katja, what sounds like, "Do you know Frank?"

Carlotta Shelle |

Carlotta starts trembling and muttering "Holy crap voices, VOICES!"
She stumbles noticeably and almost slips in the rain slicked streets.
When she hears the voice "Do you know Frank she shrieks and whips around her and going to Katja's knife. "Oh my sweet frickin' god!"

Carlotta turns around and searches the rain for the figure that spoke
Another sanity check?! OH my God! okay here goes Sanity 99 Arrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

The Chronicler |

Kenny (and Katja Jay)
The rain continues to pour and the water is running in your eyes.
Carlotta
The thing speaks..."Dayak Noph Renk!... Sceptre!..." You can see his unaturally loose tonge and teeth like gums within his mouth despite the darkness and the rain. The thing is holding what appears to be a twisted bronze horn in one hand.
Sanity Damage: (1d6=2)
Carlotta takes 2 points of Sanity Damage, bringing her current Sanity down to 47.
Though water is running in your eyes, there is no doubt as to what you see.

Carlotta Shelle |

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Carlotta turns around sees the figure and starts screaming. In a very high pitched voice "Sceptre? We don't have any sceptre. Honest! I never even saw it I came a day late and never saw it, really!!!!" She then starts trembling uncontrallaby and takes several steps backwards.
Shame, If she hadnb't just lost three sanity points, then Carlotta might have had the presence of mind to snap a few pictures.

The Chronicler |

The rain continues to splatter and fog begins to rise up from the ground, twisting around the feet. The water in your eyes continues to make it difficult to see.
Carlotta
Kenny
"Hi Jack, know of.... scepter!"
Then, suddenly, he lifts the bronze horn in his hand as if he is going to swing it at Carlotta.

Carlotta Shelle |

As the creature raises its horn Carlotta flinches back and says in a screechy voice "No really I don't have it! If I did I would DEFINITELY be giving it back to you right now. What's so important about it anyway?" As the creature menaces her tears began to flow down her cheeks and mingle with the rain as it splatters onto the sidewalk.
If this goes on for much longer Carlotta will turn tail and run for the police station.

The Chronicler |

Carlotta is about to be attacked. You can roll for initiative and try to run if you want. Everyone besides Carlotta can choose to fight or run as they wish but if they run there is no need for initiative on their part, yet.

Carlotta Shelle |

Carlotta decides she has had enough and turns away to cut and run for the poices station Initiative 19

Kenny Eastman |

Usually a d20
Thanks!
Kenny realizes that Carlotta is in shock and cannot run so he decided to come to her rescue and put his fist in the fish-face.
Initiative check against fish-face: 13.
Kenny's going to die, isn't he?

The Chronicler |

Carlotta acts first, turning and running down the wet sidewalk away from the threatening figure.
Katja is right behind her.
Kenny has a fraction of a second in which he realizes that the women are not in fact paralyzed and that he is alone...
Kenny can fight or flee (or something else entirely even). If Kenny decides to follow through with the punch he needs to roll an attack (1d20 + melee). Either way Kenny is going to need another sanity check in just a second.
Iniative is a d20 + dexterity bonus. Kenny's modified Initiative is therefore a 14, just a little better than the attacker's 13.

Kenny sees the women flee and reflects for a moment. He remembers that he is not even capable of besting his sister in fisticuffs. Time to run!

The Chronicler |

As Kenny turns tail and runs into the dark night after the two women, the man with the horn lifts it to his head. A horrible blast echoes through the streets and as Kenny moves away, he thinks he sees other figures moving his way. The figures move with a strange shuffling lope. Putting such thoughts out of his head, Kenny forces himself not to think about it and simply moves his feet.
As the reporters run, their shoes splash in dark puddles and the wind continues to howl around them. The cold water clings to them and they must constantly wipe their eyes in an attempt to see. As they run, they are trusting more in instinct than knowledge to guide them in the right direction.
Behind the horn sounds again.
Any thoughts beyond merely running the whole way to the police station :)

If I see anything that looks like a police car, I make a bee-line for it.

The Chronicler |

Two policemen, in long yellow rain slickers, are standing near their car which is parked in the middle of the street. A second car, its front end smashed, is parked in the middle of a telephone pole. There is just enough light from the surrounding street lamps to see, but the rain, if it has abated, has abated only a small amount. There is a third individual here, a man sitting half in and half out of the wrecked car.
Hearing Carlotta screeching, both of the policeman turn and hurry towards the three reporters.
"Here, now," they say loudly as the wind blows around them, "What is this all about?"

"Some freaks are chasing us, about three of them. They think we have somthing from Grip's bookstore."

Carlotta Shelle |

Carlotta calms down enough to explain, telling half truths to the as she has done to police officers many times before "We were walking over here because we wanted to know what is going on, and we were waling and then suddenly, BOOM! there was this fishman type of thing behind us that shouted in some wierd language with the only word we could make out being 'sceptre' then when we said we didn't have a sceptre it raised this horn thing and almost hit me with it" she shudders as she retells this "then we ran for it and it chased us and blew it's horn. And thats how we are here now."

Carlotta Shelle |

Sanity roll 32 YAY!! I finally suceeded.
Can we still see fishman or is he gone now that we are with other people?

Kenny Eastman |

Carlotta Shelle wrote:Can we still see fishman or is he gone now that we are with other people? You don't see him at this very moment... Of course its dark... and raining... and foggy...
...and Kenny hasn't posted a sanity roll yet... :D
Kenny the Unshakable

Kenny Eastman |

Lightning strikes to the north.
The flash illuminates the street two blocks away in which a rather sizeable group of... things... or people... are loping towards you.
"That's them! They must be the crew of the Hydra Queen. No one else aroud here cares anything about us."
If the cops are incapacitated Kenny will pick up a gun from them.

Kenny Eastman |

"Why are they dressed that way," asks one of the police officers, fearfully.
"Calm down John," says the other and he yells into the darkness, "I need each of you to cease and desist!"
"They dress that way as part of some weird cult that they have on the Hydra Queen. Captain Sluce is the head of it all; he sent them after us."

The Chronicler |

The lights go out.
Every one of them. Every street light. Every bulb in the nearby buildings.
The world is plunged suddenly into wet darkness.
"Must be the power," says one of the cops.
There is a flash of lightning overhead and suddenly the street is again illuminated, if just for a moment.
The crowd of green, lizard/fish faced antagonist are very close. About thirty feet away and still inching closer.
The man in the car screams in fright as he sees them for the first time.
One of the policemen curses. In the pitch black darkness a gun fires.
You can either roll for initiative or run away again... either way, you can't see anything...
