Significance of the name Kratys?

The name Kratys has popped up in D&D products at least 3 times that I can tell -

The Freehold of Kratys, in Dungeon #33

The Captain of the Watch, in the adventure A Hot Day in L'Trel (Dungeon #44) was the nephew of the Kratys in Freehold.

And Terrem Kratys, from the Shackled City AP, was a major plot point.

Any other nods that I'm not aware of? What is the significance? I can only assume these links are intentional - is Terrem related to the other two?

Inquiring minds want to know.

It anagrams out to "ask try" or "rat sky".

Spoiler:
I know this is no help, and I'm sorry.

Heh. I did the same thing and came up with similar gibberish.

Isn't Terrem's name Kharatys? Still a fairly similar name, but not quite the same.

Mmm...you're right.

I saw it misspelled on a website as Kratys, which triggered a memory, and I looked at some really old Dungeons and pulled up the other two from Dungeon 33 and 44.

I should've pulled out one of my Shackled City mags, but I just went with the website spelling.

Ok, so maybe there isn't a relation after all.

I thought that it might be an Easter Egg of some kind, guess not.

Good eye Shining Fool!

Indeed - the old Kratys and the Shackled City are entirely different.

The other two adventures from older issues of Dungeon are indeed related - they were both adventures by Ted James Thomas Zuvich, who had all his adventures take place in his homebrew world. Kratys was a major part of said homebrew, apparently. (See also the old Dungeon adventure of his: "Courier Service".)

I will, thanks for the tip!
