More internally, has anyone told the FR crew about this? After all the Grand History says that the Gold Dwarves took the Duregar in.

Actually, when I first read that, I assumed they would be getting rid of Duergar (i.e. 100 yeas later, they would be interbred with the gold dwarves, and the rest could have just conveniently "died off.") I was even more sure of this when they killed off the duergar gods.

However, I then thought, "well, they can't be doing anything to the duergar since Rich said there is an adventure with them on the 4th edition schedule." I'm betting the "killing the gods" deal was to make the remaining duergar that didn't move in the gold dwarves more likely to turn to devils for aid.

I'm probably banned already on all Wizards boards (EN World, Gleemax, whatever), so could someone please go there and tell them that I'm convinced now that I won't buy anything from them ever again? Apparently they thought there was still doubt in my heart, so they have to keep screwing it all up until I swear that I won't buy it. ;-)

Even Mini's Kaeyoss? However what they did to the Gnomes I remembered how you fought on the DDM boards to include more gnomes in the sets, I to supported that movement, but alas the old guard of D&D moves on without us Grognard's.

Besides 4e seems to be world without borders, where Dragon-men rescue tiefling-damsels from the clutches of devil dwarves, where robot pirates sail flying ships over the realm of the ninja dinosaur people whom worship a godzilla sized Orcus. Where mighty warriors dance with flashing blades cut a path through a horde of pit fiends as wizards on high pull power from the sky, you need not worry about death there is no save or die.

Especially those. Haven't bought a single Deserts of Desolation booster. Not even a single.

That is so not points of light.

4e adventures are $24.95 now

Not if you don't buy them :/

I've said before I'm not buying 4.x, still hurts to see more history tossed.

Similarities between 4/e and previous versions are becoming more coincidence that design.

Though I'm exaggerating, it's almost like they're only keeping a few names and terms to convince people it's the same D&D -- but it's not. The fabric of the D&D universe has been a shared experience for over 30 years. When that's gone, so is D&D (for many), no matter what they call 4/e.

Sure, we'll still buy it, but some of the affection will be lost. That's not good for sales.

I'm not saying they can't or shouldn't change things, but I think their enthusiasm for rewriting anything at their whim is foolish.

IMHO :)

I think they should have kept the Durzagon twist for the Derro as we didnt really need two races of evil dwarves. I love the Duergar and Derro but never found use for them together in the same campaign.

I think this could be a good thing. The "enslaved and altered by mind flayers" (right?) origin is pretty well used by the githyanki and githzerai, so the fiendish ancestry might be a good thing. Of course, now instead of "the drow of the dwarves" they may just be the "tieflings of the dwarves". Huge change. They still go invisible and gigantic, though, so it seems mostly like a fluff change.

Yeah, that's exactly what they are, dwarven tieflings. 4E's mantra with races must be, "It's not cool unless it's got red skin, horns, and a tail."
