Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

Jessa reflexively casts her own favorite spell on the vicious-looking spider, hoping to keep it from harming Gyorgy.

"Bedezerine!" she calls out, hurling a confounding enchantment at the vermin. (OOC: casting daze...DC 14)

"Eugen! Kenzo! Kill it quick!" she then urges.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo quickly thrusts, trying to skewer the spider with his sword.

Wow, i think i have violence envy

As the group turns their attention towards the spider, they skewer it, burn it and kill it. The remains dissapear as quickly as they appeared, leaving behind only a sulphurous stench.

"Fools! You will die, one by one... for daring to intrude into the sanctity of this holy place."

The high pitched voice is close, though the speaker is likely still in the passage south. A subtle stench wafts into the room, as if the speaker also has really bad breath. The shout is followed by a series of strange words.

Spellcraft if you wish. Kenzo can make a fortitude saving throw.

Spellcraft check... (1d20+8 = 24)

Perception check... (1d20+3 = 7)

"There! Somewhere down the passage!" Jessa warns. The young spellcaster then starts mumbling magical phrases of her own. "Desordre-desalle!" she cries, flinging her hand towards the passageway and willing the damp dirt and dust of the underground ruin to fly upward in an attempt to coat and mark their attacker.

Casting prestidigitation to dirty or otherwise soil the area. If a saving throw applies it would be DC 13 for a 0-level cantrip.

I'll allow the prestidigitation to 'mark' an invisible creature for 1 round, assuming a failed saving throw. This will cause an invisible creature's concealment to fall from total to half.

Jessa:

Spoiler:
The spell being cast is shatter.

Kenzo can make his save when he posts...

Tell me about it. Kenzo should really just forget the sword.

Fort Save (1d20=6+5=11)

How far is the little bugger from Kenzo? Can he close the distance? If so . . .

Kenzo speeds toward the tiny target, and without appearing to slow down to even break his stride, he leaps through the air at the last minute, spinning his body to strike out with a crescent kick.

Stunning Kick (1d20=2+2=4, 1d6=2+1=3)

Okay, nevermind . . . This is getting to by a lot like Lucy pulling the $#@(& ball away from Charlie Brown. Good Grief.

"Here goes nothing!"

divine fire (touch) (1d20+4=5, 1d6+1=7)

I stamp my foot in frustration.

Though the creature's invisibility is partially negated by the swirling dust, its not enough and both Gyorgy and Kenzo manage to strike only the air.

Magazin, Eugen?

Male Human Fighter 1

"Jessa can you keep that dust in the air???" i yell as i run towards the empty space, thrusting with my weapon.

"gyaaarrggghh!"

"I'll...umm...do what I can..." Jessa worries as she notices the dust is already settling and failing to permanently mark their quarry.

Eugen's attack grazes the unseen creature, but does not seem to either penetrate or hurt it.

The dust settles and again the creature is unseen, until...

In the blink of an eye, there it is, next to Eugen and Kenzo both. Though obviously female, it is just as obviously not even close to being human. Scaly skin, reminiscent of some lizard like creature, gray unkempt hair, black horns and hooved feet all suggest some more demonic origin.

"Fools," shrieks the being in her high raspy voice as she swoops down at Eugen, clawing and biting. Eugen can't help but appreciate how hideously bad her breath is.

Clawing and biting Eugen: (1d20+11=20, 1d20+11=17, 1d20+6=17)
damage: (1d3-1=2, 1d3-1=0, 1d4-1=0)

Eugen takes 4 points of damage and needs to make three fortitude saves against poison.

fort save

(1d20 +5=18,
1d20 +5=24,
1d20 +5=23)

"augh! what does it take to hurt this thing?"

Everyone else can act again now. Eugen and Kenzo can be considered to be flanking the creature.

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

"Grab it, Kenzo! Help him, Eugen! Don't let it get away...or cast another spell!" Jessa cries out. For her own part she casts another spell, launching an icy ray at the tiny figure.

Jessa's ray of frost ranged touch attack into melee... (1d20+3-4 = 2 to hit, 1d3 = 1 damage)

But she looks crestfallen as it misses by a wide margin.

Male Human Fighter 1

startled from the creature's attack, my next thrust is less focused:

attacking, flanking (1d20 +8=17)

divine fire (1d20+4=10, 1d6+1=2)

"Magazin, What do we have to do to her this terror?"

Even though he can see her, Eugen still can't seem to actually connect a solid blow with the elusive little hellion. Gyorgy also misses.

Male Half-Elf (Shoanti) Cleric 2 (Favored:Cleric)

Blessed and cold-iron weapons would be best against this thing, other than that, just hit it hard and often, like Eugen usually does.

I touch Kenzo and give him a bit of luck.

Spoiler:
Bit of Luck (Su): As a standard action, you can touch a creature, giving it a bit of luck. For the next 3 rounds, any time the target rolls a d20, he can roll twice and take the better result. The target must decide to use this ability before rolling the dice. This effect fades after 3 rounds or when the reroll is used. Once a target has been affected by bit of luck,he can gain no further benefit from it for 1 day.

Don't forget, I have also used it on Eugen, but it may have worn off by now...

Male Human Fighter 1

am i using a cold iron weapon, what's the technical definition?

Male Half-Elf (Shoanti) Cleric 2 (Favored:Cleric)

Information about special materials can be found at HERE. Also, any weapon of +3 enhancement bonus or better can also bypass damage reduction like cold iron (Pathfinder RPG Beta pg. 394).

'Like Eugen?' Jessa thoughtfully frowns, 'None of us can land a blow that hard...and that's assuming we can even find it to do so!

"What about acid or magic?" Jessa calls out with a bit of worry evident in her voice, "Surely, this thing can't ignore injuries of that kind...right?"

Are we waiting on Kenzo? Who's next?"

Kenzo is up. First person to post can post an action and roll for Kenzo. Don't forget the luck bonus.

Male Human Monk 3
DM Wicht wrote:

Frustrated with the futility of striking the elusive creature, Kenzo focuses his ki and throws a desperate, straightforward punch.

Hopefully, I'm doing the math right. When I rolled the dice, I forgot to add the +2 for flanking...so I've added it in below.

Kenzo's stunning fist attack with luck bonus and flanking bonus... (1d20+2+1+2 = 22, 1d6+1 = 5 damage)

This is Kenzo's last remaining stunning fist attack for the day. If the blow lands, she'll need to make a DC 13 Fortitude save to avoid being stunned for 1 round.

Save: (1d20+5=23)
Kenzo manages to strike the creature, but his fist seems to do no harm to it. With a screech towards Kenzo, the winged demon twirls in mid-air and then dissappears from view.

No attack from the quasit this turn. Kenzo has the feeling it might have flown by him in the hallway.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

"Quick. Is there any way we can trap it, or maybe lock it in a room?"

"Lock me in my own rooms!" screeches the thing's gravelly voice.

There is no doubt that it flew past Kenzo further down the hallway.

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

"Lock it up?" Jessa replies, "How? Where? We don't even know what's down here...much less how to capture it."

DM Wicht wrote:

"Tintecol!" Jessa targets the general area where the voice seems to emanate and intones another spell, hoping to mark the creature once again.

Casting prestidigitation again...this time with a paintball-like effect, hoping to not only mark it, but mark it with something that might leave a trail. It would be DC 13 if a save is involved.

I'm not sure its fair to allow a 0 level spell to mimic a 1st level spell (fairy fire). If you want to create a small bit of paint and fire it, I'll allow that, but you would have to make a ranged touch attack to strike an invisible target.

Sounds fair.

Ranged touch attack with prestidigitation spell... (1d20+3 = 18 to hit)

50% miss chance on attack (01-50 misses): (1d100=85)

The small bit of magical paint manages to clip the invisible flying creture, marking it just a bit.

You can see a bit of paint like substance flying around in the air just past Kenzo.

"Well, I haven't hit it yet," Jessa replies, "And I'm certain my magic can hurt it...if only we could catch it." She gestures up the hallway. "My real worry is that if we don't stop it, how many more of those monstrosities will she summon from that well? Can we afford to allow those things to venture into Sandpoint?"

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo shows his frustration, and sweeps a wide arc with his sword, hoping to strike down the creature that taunts them.

1d20=8+2, 1d8=4+1

Kenzo misses even as Gyorgy suggest running away.

"Ha! You'll never kill the favored of the mother! You fools shall pay with your very lives. Your souls shall feed my power!" The invisible flying demon with the paint spot showing shrieks in anger.

Growing frustrated, Jessa yells out, "Would somebody please hit this thing?" She weaves her hands in a complex pattern and then launches another icy ray to back up her own demand. "Heladoviga!"

Jessa's ranged touch attack with ray of frost... (1d20+3 = 18 to hit, 1d3 = 1 cold damage)

Jessa's ray of frost hits something, presumeably the invisible foe, for the small female demon lets out a small surprised yelp.

Hehe. Yeah, that 1 hp worth of damage isn't going to mean much unless more can be done this round.
