Magazin delays as he prepares himself to cast a healing spell.

Just waiting on Eugen then.

Male Human Fighter 1

"what is it today with disgusting creatures trying to kill us?" i ask out loud, trying to summon up my inner anger as i charge forward:

attack (1d20 +5 +2=19)

damage (1d8 +3=10)

Avoiding the edges of the pits, Eugen moves forward and strikes the monster. His sword cuts deep but it is not enough to bring down the strange creature.

Now that they are closer, the companions can see the creature vaguely resembes a goblin, except of course for the foot growing from the side of its head, the two extra stubby arms and the third eye blinking on the side of the thing's belly.

The things wounds begin to close as it attacks.

Longsword attack against Kenzo: (1d20+3=22)
critical confirm: (1d20+3=12)
damage: (1d8+5=8)

The exceedingly sharp sword slices into Kenzo, wounding him.

Meanwhile the creature also attacks Eugen with a silver dagger weilded by one stumpy arm and a hand axe. All three weapons seem to be weilded with equal dexterity.

Attacking Eugen: (1d20+3=23, 1d20+2=13)
confirm critical: (1d20+3=15)
damage: (1d6+2=8)

The handaxe, a fine peice of workmanship Eugen can't help but notice as he blocks the dagger, strikes Eugen.

"Koruvus min Lik Lamashtu! shouts the creature as his weapons press his attack against his two foes.

Magazin is prepared with a healing spell if he wants to act before Gyorgy to heal Kenzo.

Male Half-Elf (Shoanti) Cleric 2 (Favored:Cleric)

Cure Light Wounds on Kenzo! (1d8+2=10)

I can't take much more of this babbling.

I cast Daze on the mutant-thing.

The wailing from the pits intesifies and movement, as of somethings slamming against the walls or trying to scramble up, joins the wailing.

Magazin's divine spell completely heals Kenzo as Gyorgy cast his daze at the creature. But the creature completely ignores the mind twisting spell and continues to try and attack both Kenzo and Eugen.

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

Jessa draws and fires another arrow, attempting to harry the monstrous goblin so it can't concentrate on Kenzo and Eugen.

Jessa's longbow attack into melee... (1d20+3-4 = 14 to hit, 1d8 = 8 damage)

Jessa's arrow is off the mark just enough to miss.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo bobs and weaves to keep away from the monstrosity's numerous limbs and avoid falling in the pit next to him. Seeing an opening, he shifts his weight to generate power and strikes his target square in the chest with a palm heel strike.

Stunning Fist (1d20=19+2=21 to hit, 1d6=1+1= 2 damage)

Stunning Fist forces a foe damaged by your unarmed attack to make a Fortitude saving throw (DC13), in addition to dealing damage normally. A defender who fails this saving throw is stunned for 1 round (until just before your next action). A stunned creature drops everything held, can’t take actions, takes a -2 penalty to AC, and loses his Dexterity bonus to AC.

Male Human Fighter 1

dazzled by kenzo's fancy fisticuffs, i totally flub my attack:
attacking (1d20 +5=7)

Fortitude Save: (1d20+6=12)

The creature is momentarily stunned. His weapons clatter to the ground.

"Nice one Kenzo!" I call from the back, before sending forth another blast of heavenly fire.
against touch AC. (1d20+4=5, 1d6+1=3)

but I get carried away and skew my shot high and wide.
unless Wicht wants me to accidentally heal anyone?

Male Human Fighter 1

does the creature being stunned mean that i would have had a guaranteed hit?

Eugen Enescu wrote:

No.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo follows up his stunning strike with a flurry of blows.

1d20=1, 1d6=3,
1d20=7, 1d6=5

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

Seeing Kenzo continue to struggle with the beast, Jessa looks for another opening and launches a follow-up arrow.

Jessa's attack with longbow into melee... (1d20-1 = 16 to hit, 1d8 = 5 damage)

Hoping to keep the monster occupied so it can't reclaim its fallen weapons, she quickly nocks another arrow just in case.

"Make sure it doesn't arm itself again!" she calls out.

Kenzo can make a reflex save, DC 10

Jessa's arrow strikes home and the creature stumbles to its right from the blow...

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

1d20+6=13 Reflex save

Male Human Fighter 1

oi

attack (1d20 +5=6)

reflex save (1d20 +2=3)

Though obviously stunned, the creature proves hard to hit. It is badly injured (though healing) and as it slowly comes out of its stunned condition, it seems to be focusing angrily on Eugen.

Magazin can still act before the creature. Both Eugen and the creature are hurt. If Magazin does not attack the creature, Eugen can have one attack of opportunity as it bullrushes him towards the pit behind him.

Male Half-Elf (Shoanti) Cleric 2 (Favored:Cleric)

I move to C2 then D3 and cast Shield of Faith on Eugen.

Sorry for the delay in my posts, a friend is in-process of being evicted so I have been helping him move since Thursday.

I'll give Eugen tonight to post his attack of opportunity.

Fair warning -i'll be away from internet access all next week, the 4th to the 11th of August.

dice roller seems to be not responding at the moment. dm has permission to roll an actual die for an attack and possible damage on my behalf if it speeds things up.

Male Human Fighter 1

i am cursed

attack of opportunity (1d20 +5=8)

Sorry for not posting here yesterday.

The four armed creature screams and dodging Eugen's feeble sword stroke, rushes at Eugen, trying to push him back into the pit behind him. Eugen manages to resists being pushed, and though the bizarre creature is stronger, sheer force of will allows Eugen to outwrestle the other.

"Get back you snarling git!" I send forth another blast of divine fire.

yet again, vs touchAC (1d20+4=23, 1d6+1=6)

The blast catches the creature on its right side and sends him reeling to the side. A second later he falls to the ground near the wall.

It is not dead and like the other monstrosities in this place, its wounds appears to be slowly healing themselves.

"Look out! It's still healing!" Jessa warns and fires another shot into the fallen creature's motionless body.

Jessa's ranged attack... (1d20-1 = 18 to hit, 1d8 = 4 damage)

Male Human Fighter 1

I step forward to do my usual dice job on it, and afterwards loot it.

As the heroes slay the vile creature, the moaning and wailing from the pits continues unabated.

The strange creature, which in death looks very like a large multilimbed, green eyed goblin, has no possessions on his person other than his weapons, which he had of course dropped seconds before his ultimate demise.

The three weapons are a silvered dagger, a masterwork hand-ax and a well made long sword.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

"Nicely done, Gyorgy," Kenzo says, patting his comrade on the back. He peers at the dead creature with a grimace before looking around at the various pits. "So, uh, who wants to take a look?" he tries to say in a mockingly cheery voice.

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1 HP 10/10 | AC 15/11/14 | CMD 12 | saves F+2 R+2 W+3 | Vision: Perception +5, Sense Motive +1; Init +5 | Status: Normal

I peer gingerly into a pit.

"oh, dear..."

The pits seem to each contain an animated, rotting corpse. The things wail and moan and stretch their arms skywards as they try to crawl up the sides of the pits. Fortunately, they seem to be singularly unable to accomplish their goal.

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

"By the gods!" Jessa murmurs when she sees the pitiful creatures, "How long have they been down there? Who were they?"

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1 HP 10/10 | AC 15/11/14 | CMD 12 | saves F+2 R+2 W+3 | Vision: Perception +5, Sense Motive +1; Init +5 | Status: Normal

Like fish in a barrel, I assume.

I walk slowly from pit to pit, pouring divine fire into the pitiful things until they've all been silenced. Then I say a quiet, heartfelt prayer to Desna.

Soon the room is silent. The corpses at the bottom of the pits have been stilled.

There is a stone archway in the middle of the room's southern wall.

"I just can't believe this place," Jessa says into the silence, "I thought...well, I guess I imagined Ancient Thassilon to have been a magical place, a time of great arcane breakthroughs and sharing of knowledge. But this place...it's...evil. Something horrible was wrought here. From those unnatural creatures that seem to want nothing more than to attack us...to these poor undead souls, trapped here for who knows how long?"

"And to think...all this was right under the Glassworks...below Sandpoint...for what must have been millennia," she suggests, "I can't imagine what more we could possibly find down here. But after what we've seen so far, I don't imagine any of it will be good."

She looks towards the archway. "So...what now?"

Jeslara 'Jessa' Eventide wrote:

Kenzo curtly replies, "Now we find whoever is responsible for all of this." He then turns and starts heading toward the archway.

This will be my last post for a week.

Beyond the archway is a thirty-five foot long hall running to the south. Twenty-five feet down the hall, on the east wall is another archway. At the end of the stone hall, at the south, is a stone door.

The stone door to the south has a large bas-relief carving on it of the same seven sided star that was on both the statue's book and the other doors. The door has a silver handle and is partially opened.

To save a little time... An investigation of the archway on the east wall will subsequently reveal a five foot hallway that leads to a set of spiraling stone stairs that go down. These stairs go down about fifteen feet and then end. The passage has collapsed here, blocking further descent.

See you guys in a week. :)

I'm back, so what is the plan? :)

"Well, it doesn't look like we can explore the stairs," Jessa comments, "That door seems rather ominous as well. That symbol keeps reoccuring throughout these ruins. I wonder what it means? Let's investigate the door and see where it leads..." Of course, the young witch defers to one of the stronger men in the group to open the portal, but she stays ever-curious just behind them.

what an old fashioned young witch! :) my postings may be intermittent over the course of this week as i've been called in to work on the discovery channel's time warp show and it's devouring my days. but it will be an interesting series, if you're into high speed photography.

i move forward and open the door, trying to appear bold and quick footed despite my injuries.

"Hold on up front, just a few seconds..."

I recharge my light spell and, noting Eugen's stiff walk, use my heavenly fire to heal Eugen.

healing for Eugen (1d6+1=7)

The door opens easily.

The bizarre red room on the other side of the door is almost a perfect sphere.

There are objects floating lazily about the room, spinning lazily in the air - a ragged looking book, a scroll, a bottle of what looks like wine, a twisted iron wand and a dead raven surrounded by a small cloud of maggots that float along with the dead bird.

But even stranger than the floating objects are the walls of the room. The walls are plated in sheets of a strange red metal. As they stare at the walls, the companions see that, here and there, silent, black electrical-like currents ripple across the sheets, forming at times into strange runes or even words. This happens too frequently to be chance.

"Well, will you look at that..."

I gently lob a sunrod into the room, to see what happens.

"Gyorgy! Wait!" Jessa warns and then breathlessly watches the sunrod fly into the room when she's too late. Worried that some terrible magical trap might be unleashed by the strange room -- after all, there's a dead floating raven in there -- she braces herself for the worst.

I found temporary internet access here at GenCon and thought I'd try to stay involved as best I can. No promises, though. My access here will be spotty at best.

Jeslara 'Jessa' Eventide wrote:

Rub it in why don't you :p

The sunrod floats into the room, past the bottle of wine. It eventually stikes the opposite wall and then slowly bounces back towards the center of the room.

It does not appear to have set off any traps.
