Pathfinder is both a product line and an ingame organization.
The product line is a series of Adventure Paths (currently on issue 3 of the first AP).
The ingame organization is a group of historian/explorers/archeoligist/adventurers who chronicle the contents of ruins and map the unknown.

Funnily enough, it's also the name of an educational programme that I'm involved in, developing e-learning in UK higher education institutions. So I feel perfectly justified in having Pathfinder wallpaper on my laptop!
