PDF Printing Policy

Customer Service

Is there an official policy posted for printing PDFs for personal use? I downloaded Hollow's Last Hope on free rpg day and figured since I was headed to Staples I'd have them print me a copy from the PDF. But they need to see an official policy saying it's okay. I thought a single copy for personal use was ok but I need an official policy. Thanks.

We have no problem with printing a single copy for personal use, though I have to be clear that this only extends to the PDFs where Paizo is listed as the publisher. (We can't speak on behalf of any of the other PDF publishers—you'd have to seek permission from them.)

I was trying to print out my copies of the miniatures for Skull and Shackles, and Kinkos told me they cannot print it. That the pdfs are locked. How can I get the miniatures printed since I don't have a color printer at home? Any ideas??

If they are willing to look at a website, point them here.

If they are only willing to go on the copyright statement in the product, they are correct - copyright prevents them from being able to print it. Edit : I'm presuming their comment about the PDF being locked is that you don't have the password to unlock it and therefore are not the rights holder for the PDF.

You can print out the relevant FAQ or show them the website. If they still won't allow it, you may need to find a new copy shop.

Correct—if the person you're talking to thinks there's some *technical* need to unlock it in order to print it, ask to speak to somebody else.

Their printer apparently tells them it is locked. They said there was no way they could print it without it being unlocked. They aren't seeing it at all, as it's on my USB stick. But I did once get harassed about printing the character sheets too. This time it let me print the character sheet, but none of the .pdf minis.

I was completely prepared to show them my ID and that it had my name on it, but I guess I will try another print place and see if it will work elsehere. Thanks!
