Dwarf Help

I have a character that was built actually with the help of some of you on here. Well He was the last of a Clan and is on the surface as an out cast trying to rebuild his clan. I guess my real question is where should he start? I have some things thoughts but nothing concrete.

He would technically be Clan Chieftain who answers to the High King so I need Elder as a council and I need Clan Wardens to cover police type militia type things.

I am planning on taking anyone who wants to join as long as I see them as kind, good, and just, but how do I explain how I want my clan to behave? Which is as a large family who helps each other so all are better. I also plan on taking them back to my king to reside in my old clan hall so where should I start? What should I say to people who are willing to join about it?

I would say that the first thing an outcast dwarf from a 'dead' clan needs to do is get the other clans to recognize his clan and his right to inherit the mantle of clan leader. Maybe make some other minor clans (or minor clan families in larger clans) that he can convince to follow his banner.

I would break it down into these rough steps:

*Earn the status of his rank in the eyes of his 'peers'.
*Demonstrate his worth as a warrior/leader.
*Earn a holding (or retake them, or upgrade them if he has his families previous holdings).
*Oversee and take care of the minor families that join his clan

As for how to show others what the clan is like develop these things

    *A clan motto
*Two to four stories from the clans past that exemplify the way they should act
*A clan code, making sure there is the 'twist' (the item or tradition that makes this clan different from other clans)

Hope that is a start.

Hmm, there are interesting seeds for bit more political campaign, depending on how you and DM want to run it.

First step would be to get some people to join (so you actually have a claim for being a clan) and establish a place for them to live, get resources and livelihood...
Of course initially you will be considered an outcast clan with no status and this is probably mirrored in the people who are willing to join such a clan, so you have to decide if you will be keeping tight limits on people you allow in and end up with really small group or allow some more questionable people and get a clan of workable size...both roads have problems.

After you have managed that (people, resources, place to live, defense, policies), it is time to consider looking for approval of other clans (and whatever hierarchy dwarf society in your world follows). This is probably not easy, considering typically conservative outlook of dwarves...and of course if there is any mystery or shame connected to nigh-destruction of your clan, it must be dealt with.

Of course you have to have something to make the first deals, like controlling some rare resource, provide services (military, commercial, other)...after you have gained some status, it is time to really enter world of intrigue, decide what to support and what to oppose, who to ally with and who will be your inevitable enemies...

One thing to consider is also the members of your clan. Maybe some of them are happier with more free and loose status and not taking part in dealings of dwarf society.
