Wahoo! I am having a blast! A couple of comments on the combat we are currently engaged in:
1) Talacyst should hit and either drop or severely injure goblin #2.
2) Coppertop will probably miss goblin #1.
3) Rel should get sneak attack damage against goblin #3. That should drop it. Rel should still be able to move his speed this round if he wants to.
4) Etienne should be able to charge (2X move) goblin #1 or #3.
5) Caerival be careful. That singer makes me nervous.
Nice point, Manpig. I'll change my actions if CH will allow.

Radavel wrote: Nice point, Manpig. I'll change my actions if CH will allow. In general, I have no problem with changed/updated actions, so long as I have not concluded the round. In this case, it just didn't work out because the charge route was blocked.
I just realized that Rel's attack should also have done Sneak Attack damage, as ManPig pointed out above. However, since the end result of the attack does not change, I won't edit the combat post.
I'll try not to make that mistake next time. :)

To Zoomackulas: You might wanna drop by Flamifur's Shackled City Thread... something has been happening. :-)
To CH: I apologize for the plug. :-)

It's no problem! :)
Wow, you guys rolled so great during that fight! So far, you've been combat machines. I'll have to see what I can do to increase the challenge level. ;)
Anyway, chalk up another 140 xp per PC for that victory. Good job!

Yay! I finally hit something!
CH! thanks for running such a great game. A friend of mine from work was reading your "singing goblin" combat post over my shoulder (He played D&D "back in the day" in the navy). I showed him the combat map and the images. He said "Man, that is really cool." My sentiments exactly.
Whew. I really love slinging dice. ;-)

What's going on? It's been mighty quiet around here...I hope everyone is ok.
Well, I think I'm holding fairly steady on my end (I am checking regularly), but it does seem that it's more quiet than usual...
By the way, I'm hoping that if we take the whip I'll be able to borrow it for Animate Rope - it seems that I forgot to buy some rope when I made the character.
Male Human Grognard/Epic, Husband/10
I'm ok. Been fairly regular checking the boards. Can't wait for the next encounter. I really like the visual aids. I'm studying the map tools CH is using.
Am I the only one who's having trouble getting onto Paizo recently? A few days ago it wouldn't load at all, and it took me a few tries to get it today...

It's not just you...the site has been up and down, off and on for the past couple days - I hope this is why we've lost touch with our DM.
Yup. The website's been up and down past couple of days. For the possible explanations check this Link

OK, I'm trying not to be a pessimist, but where is Cry Havoc!?
Male Human Grognard/Epic, Husband/10
With the holidays coming up it is easy to get swamped. I hope (and pray) that he is well.
I second your prayer, Manpig. The silnece is only due to the recent problems with the site (I hope).
Friends, I've been wondering as I am playing a paladin, would it be against the code of conduct for paladins to take the equipment and treasure of defeated enemies? For that matter, should a paladin negotiate with evil creatures, even if the end will result in a greater good? Can a paladin employ traps and ambushes to defeat his enemies?
I'd appreciate any thoughts on the matter.
Male Human Grognard/Epic, Husband/10
I don't see a problem with "reclaiming" possessions of the defeated or the dead. Negotiating with evil would be tricky. If I were playing a paladin I would stick to the high road. Coppertop will make no concessions to evil.

I can't imagine them having anything useful...maybe. I would even hazard that any treasure should be used to help restore the damage? I don't see anything wrong in looting the dead if there are no better uses...Caerival has no interest in anything a goblin made use of, but it's more personal than moral.
We'll discuss more of this when the appropriate situation presents itself.
Now, as we are already agreed on an expedition to the forest, I say that leadership should be given over to Caerival as he is the one more familiar with the terrain. Any dissenting opinion?
I'll put in my two-cents regarding what a paladin can/cant do. I'd agree that there's nothing wrong with taking evil folks' stuff, as it probably wasn't theirs to begin with. As for an ambush or other trickery... I think that would be acceptable if that was what it takes to defeat the creatures (especially if it means saving lives, such as by stopping them before they can attack a settlement).
And I think Caerival would be the best choice for a leader in the forests - wouldn't have it any other way!

We haven't seen hide nor hair of Cry Havoc! for a week. This is my first PbP...what do we do? I think we have a great group with lots of potential.
Male Human Grognard/Epic, Husband/10
We wait, my friend. We wait. This is a solid group; players and characters. I hope the game picks back up soon.
Does anyone have CryHavocs! email address? I can't think of anyway to contact him except thru these posts.
CH might be sick. Some flu's going round. My GM in another PBP just recovered and he's been out of touch longer than CH.
I think it's still too early to start a thread dedicated to a search for CH. We did that for a player in one of our pbps and we found out later that he was swamped with work but he did come back.
Really? That sounds really interesting. Just goes to show you that people on the boards can really be connected to each other... Six Degrees of Seperation, I suppose.
We miss you, CH!
Though it is not a holiday celebrated in my country, I would like to greet those who do, "Happy Thanksgiving."
And CH we miss you.
Happy thanksgiving to all! My hope is that cry havoc comes back. I am having sooooooo much fun being a player. Its hard when I get the new pathfinder that I can't read it so I can have fun playing the pbp game we are playing. But to keep the game going and to keep the cool group we got I can gm! Its up to to all! I say we wait another week and hopefully he resurfaces, if not, lets keep going and i can cover for him until he comes back!

People are posting over on the game thread and I got all excited :(
Cry Havoc! come home soon...
DitheringFool wrote: People are posting over on the game thread and I got all excited :(
Sorry about that. I just wanted CH to know we're still waiting for him....
Male Human Grognard/Epic, Husband/10
I'm still checking (almost) daily. I've been sick the last couple of days. Well, I'm still sick, but I am back at work anyway. Happy belated Thanksgiving to all! And thanks to you Radavel for remembering our Holiday. As far as having someone take over as DM, I would have to say that I am more inclined to wait on Cry Havoc! to return.
male second place epic conservative
I can wait a bit longer too...I'm playing in another PbP and just started DMing another. However, I would really, really, like to see this pick back up pretty soon. How about we revisit alternatives in another week?
Sounds good to me - I think keeping our options open would be good. I'm also really, really liking how things are going so far, so I hope CH turns up.
Oh, and good luck with your campaign ;)
I'll be watching from the sidelines...
Hello Guys. How are you holding up? Like DitheringFool, I've started my one PBP here at the boards. Hope you are all doing fine.

I've been following Dithering Fool's PbP game with great interest. I'm avoiding yours like the plague (MUST AVOID ALL RISE OF THE RUNELORDS THREADS...MUST AVOID SPOILERS).
Heh, about the same as ManPig, actually. Browsing other threads, and keeping up with some of the other PbP's I've been following. (I am trying to avoid too much RotRL content, so let me say good luck to you too, Radavel!)
I'm still checking these threads every day or so, and I'm still hoping it'll all pick up again!
I too hope that CH comes back. This is the coolest RotRL game I've played in so far.

Alright its been 18 days since Cry havoc's last post, it might be time to start talking about options here! What does everyone think?
I am open to Zoomackulas running the game until CH comes back. This hiatus is too long for a Thanksgiving vacation.
Any thoughts?
Male Human Grognard/Epic, Husband/10
With the holidays coming up it's going to be hectic. Posting for some people may become erratic. What does everyone think of waiting until after the first of the year before making a decision?
Hey ManPig I am planning a new PBP called Rise of the Kobold King would you be interested? Let me know here if you're interested. I've reserved you a slot.

I'm ready to start looking into a substitute DM.
Zoomackulas: can you pull this off with Rel or should we scrounge up another player?
ManPig wrote: With the holidays coming up it's going to be hectic. Posting for some people may become erratic. What does everyone think of waiting until after the first of the year before making a decision? I could go either way with this...I want to give Cry Havoc! a chance but I'm too impatient.
I'm with DitheringFool here. I would like to wait up for CH, but it really has been a while... I think that I would prefer getting rolling again, so long as we're in agreement.
What usually happens when the DM goes missing? I'm also wondering what would happen when he returned. Would he simply take over from there, or what?
