They should be armed with whatever broken race/class/PrC/feat skill combo your most annoying player is using, so that they can feel just how boring and soul-destroying it is, to see it wheeled out every session.
After they've got totally fed up, you can offer to ban it from your campaign, and you won't hear a peep of protest from them!
Hello again Gijs!
I swear I'm not stalking you!

If this is actually a serious post....dopplegangers...
As per the City of Greyhawk boxed set, yeah I know, old....
Standard Watchmen is a Fighter 1
Chainmail and Shield
Light Crossbow, Longsword and Club <-I would replace this with a Truncheon
Since I assume someone will ask...the Truncheon is essentially a larger sap. It does 1d8 nonlethal damage. I can't remember which book it is in at the moment. Great for watchmen.
Junior Sergeant Ftr 2
Same but add Halberd
Sergeant at arms Ftr 3
Chainmail +1 <--- I'd adjust to Banded or Splint. I don't see why a mere Sergeant is going to be issued Chain+1.
Deputy Constable Ftr 5
Equipment as Sergeant at Arms. With possible random items.

I'm positive that somewhere I read that the "Free City" guards were chainmail, with shield and club (truncheon sounds perfect). They were also a bit higher level than 1st, to reflect the more experiance that they have for being guards in one of the most active citys in the land.
(will have to go back and read Expedition to Castle Greyhawk again)

If you want 3.5 stat blocks, check Go to this page and download the Greyhawk Ruins Sourcebook.
You can check out the cool affiliations in it too. ;)

I thought Living Greyhawk was dead? Replaced by Living FR?
Much as this info is welcome, and ties in with a product written by Paizo staff, I find it rather bizarre that they now have a Living GH site, when they have ignored or disrespected the setting for years as being only of interest to Fatbeards.
I never bothered with LGH before, due to their policy of sticking me and my countrymen in Onnwall. When I read the entry 'Cities: Scant', I didn't realise Scant was the actual name of the capital; I thought it meant there was literally no cities worth mentioning there...
