Lemorian Golem

In the Appendix of Here There Be Monsters (Dragon Magazine 142 pg 60) it list that a Lemorian Golem has hp 96 (12 HD). However in the adventure he is listed on pg 57 as only having 51 hp with no indication as to why. Is this a misprint or is there a reason for this that either I missed or I did not think of.

While yes he could have taken damage over the years and can't fix as a construct I'm not sure he will be the worth the value of a CR 10 creature if at nearly half his normal hp total.

Thoughts?

Two options as I see it Reznor:

One, ramp its hp to its proper value and retain a second CR 10 encounter that starts 3 rounds after Olangru is dispatched.

Two, leave it, and award half xp for a CR 10.

I'm sure more could be come up with ....

The EL for the room is listed as 10, and Olangru is a CR 9, so that would make the golem only a CR 7 or 8, which might be why its hp are reduced. Or why the room isn't an EL 11, or whatever... :)


well, since golems do not repair themselves naturally, assume that it has been damaged in some previous encounter/incident.

As for the room's EL - EL 10 seems quite correct for an understrength Lemorian Golem plus Olangru. And since by then the characters should be pretty much strung out on resources, this is probably a fair fight.

Although the golem is, unlike most other golems, not immune to most magical effects. But by all reasonable means, the players and their characters shouldn't know this.... unless they read the script

I seem to remember asking this same question when I ran HTBM, and JJ said it is a misprint in the adventure text, the golems hp should be 96.

Ouch, never saw that - obviously I let my victi.. ahem "players" off lightly.

Time to go for a refund !
