Rienne ir'Alastra from Storm Dragon

Just read the recent novel by James Wyatt.

Can anyone tell what Rienne is supposed to be? Considering her anime-like style of fighting, I'm guessing she's a class from Book of Nine Swords, but I haven't read that book.
