Talisman

Product Discussion

If the publishers of this game read this, can they let us know if they plan on putting out the four "corner" expansions for this version? I have the version of the game that has these expansions, and it sets the game apart from all others because of those and the dragon tower.

This will make the difference as to whether I get a copy of the new version of Talisman and its hoped for expansions.

In other words, I love the game, but have a copy and will not buy the new one unless it has the expansions coming.

Could we also hear something about the miniatures?

Of course they'll put out expansions. It's the closest thing to a CCG that board games have (look at Runebound for example). Unless the game sells poorly...

Man, I remember the game Talisman from when I was an undergrad! I can't tell you how many hours I played it over the years... I am DnD/RPG fan, but Talisman had a certain 'something' that really appealed to me as well. It bridged the gap so RPGers and board gaming friends could really enjoy time together.

I think the illustrations and simple-yet-captivating rules were keys to this game's success.

I agree with the earlier posters--I would definitely order Talisman if other expansions were going to be released also. What were there? I seem to remember a "city," and "future" expansion, but I can't place the others. Anyway, please publish all the expansions along with the base game--once I see that this is happening, I am SO on board!

Thanks,

Tyrskald

There were, in fact, many expansions to 2nd edition Talisman (the classic version of the game that most of us knew and loved). Talisman City, Dungeon, and Timescape were all mixed board, character, and card expansions. There were also three purely card/character expansions: "The Talisman Expansion", "The Talisman Adventure", and the extremely rare "Talisman Dragon". White Dwarf magazine also released some character cards back in the day.

I've seen an advert in this month's White Dwarf; it appears they will be using card standees (in plastic bases) for the playing pieces, as per 1st edition.

Unsurprising, since this is a third-party product, and the 3D figures were Games Workshop's own design, some even being straight from the Warhammer Regiments.

Marvelous! Coincidentally, I was trying to find the original print of this game online and the prices were outrageous second hand. This really is a great little board game, I have good memories of it.
