Real weirdness

Off-Topic Discussions

Check this out. I was in Borders Books having a decaf mocha and browsing the shelves when I walked down an aisle and saw a book titled something along the lines of "Serial Killers". It had pics of real guys on the cover and, riffling through the pages, a few 'real' crime scene photos of victims (sans hands and heads, etc.)

Right next to it sat a few H.P. Lovecraft books, including a particularly new one full of illustrations. It seemed completely natural that real life crime and H.P. Lovecraft should be on the same shelf. It actually made the Lovecraft books look better, and gave an explanation of why serial killers exist (they are touched by madness.)

I wonder if they put these next to each other because Halloween is approaching… anyways it is really weird.

Liberty's Edge

That's weird. H.P.'s usually in horror, and there's a true crime section way over in a different aisle when I go to Border's.

I don't see as much fluff publishing going on because horror is a serious business.
