Savage Tide 'Points of Light'

Savage Tide Adventure Path

Right, so I've been thinking about the whole 'Points of Light' campaign as outlined by WOTC for 4th edition and I had a thought - Savage Tide 'Points of Light' campaign.

The heroes failed. Suddenly the world was hit by the savage tide. All the major cities were affected and the spill over of savage creatures destroyed or seriously affected almost ever bastion of civilization.
The vast majority of high level NPC were overcome either by the savage tide itself or trying to hold back the waves of savage creatures that resulted.

Those high level figures left alive tend to be at best uncaring enough to have stood aside and let civilization fall or at worst, those evil enough to have seen the potential benefits of the savage tide.

Next generation. The wave of savage creatures has ebbed. The reminants of once mighty nations are starting to explore the world again. A world filled with monsters and left over ruins of the past.

How does this idea sound for a 'Points of Light' campaign?

It sounds pretty good for a "Points of Light" campaign. It is actually also a really good way to go for your next campaign if you were running STAP, and the PCs failed. And reading the AP, I was thinking wat would the world look like if the PCs did faile.

You could even use it to explain the change over from 3.5 - 4E.

It definently has a lot of possibilities.

Good Work

Scuttlecove becomes a major port city and base from where the returned Ur Lords launch attacks to conquer the rest of the region. Yeah it could work very nicely.

... assuming the PCs screw up

Given how easily the PCs could screw up, it would make a wonderful backstory explanation for the 'switch' of game generations.

And you get to lay the blame on your PLAYERS' shoulders !

*Cue Robocop bad guy voice, the bald one with the assault cannon* " I LIKE IT !! "
