...the Pince of Demons?
Small typo in Dungeon 150's ToC.
Could've been worse, though. At least we're not urged to challenge the Price of Demons. That could make for a harrowing episode of The Price is Right!
Anyway, just started going over the issue, and it looks great!
I actually caught that typo when it was printed out on the website, and it was promptly corrected. I never thought to ask if that was still in the print magazine though.
I'm kind of a stickler about typos. I swear they just jump off the page when I see them. And I'm seeing them in current products still...ah well, that's my issue. Paizo's free to hire me unofficially as a final proofer (for no pay or even recognition). I'd consider it community service :)
Isn't Pince French for pliers? This could still work.

You sure you'd still want the job when someone catches an error you let slip by and then posts your error for all the world to see? It gets old pretty quick.

As a side comment, I've noticed errors in Paizo publications rise sharply around Gencon time. Coincidence? ;)

James, here's my suggestion. You guys have a version of a document/manuscript that you consider "final", and good to go (i.e., send it off to the printer, if that's the next step). You send me the pdf of it (giving me a 24-hour heads up it's coming), and I'll have it back to you proofed for typos (i.e., misspellings, words missing--but not mechanical errors, I'm horrible at crunch) in record time. Like 24 hours if need be.
You don't have to pay me, nor even credit me (these things bear repeating). I'd be happy to sign any NDA's you come up w/, and could return the pdf after I've proofed it. The way I see it, you have nothing to lose, and you rid yourselves of the people (found mostly on the WOTC boards, true) who complain about not fully-proofed products.
That said, let me apologize for being the guy on the Paizo boards who's always harping on typos (I just posted another one, about "Mordenakainen", before I read your response above). It's a weakness, but I'm hoping to turn it into a force for good by offering my services. No one, including myself, can guarantee that everything possibly wrong could be caught; but I'm offering to potentially improve what you guys put out.
You can contact me @ "benstowell at mac.com" if you wish to continue this conversation out of sight of the boards. Even if you want to do something like this on a trial basis--like, give me a document deliberatedly filled w/ typos, and see how many I get, and how long it takes me. Then, if you're satisfied, we go from there. I can give you a reference for another game designer I do this for infrequently, too.
Regardless of whether you follow up on this, I'll apologize for making you feel targeted in any way. It's never been my intention to shame anyone here. I love these boards and most everyone on them. I was a lurker for years at various sites before I got into posting here, and I'm glad I did. It's a great community.

Thanks for the offer, but adding another step to the editing process of Pathfinder isn't something I'm interested in. Feel free to point out all the errors you can find, though; we at Paizo will be doing our best to make sure that you get bored with the project. And if enough typos get pointed out and one of us gets fired, well then there'll be a job opening to apply for!
(A bit of advice, though; when posting an email about typos, it's a good idea to double check the email itself for typos, unless you're going for irony.)
And if I seem a bit snippy or snarky about the subject, I apologize as well. Normally I do have a thick skin regarding typos and errors, but my patience is stretched a bit thin lately with the combination of Gen Con, finishing Dungeon off, and starting up Pathfinder. As I've said before on other threads... I'm kind of stunned that Dungeon #150 came out with all its pages in order and its cover on right! :)

Honestly I think you and the rest or the Paizo team did VERY GOOD consitering what you all were up against! Good job James and the rest of the crew at Paizo!
Given the huge ammount of text they published each month, the number of typographical errors was fairly small. And the errors tended to be comical.
Though my favorite will always be "Anicat Tmeple" from Spire of Long Shadows, Dividend's Ire (from the map of Gaping Maw from Into The Maw) is a very close second.

Ok, James, thanks for the reply. I thought it worth the effort to offer my help. I certainly couldn't fault you for getting snippy about these things, I know how hard you and the other Paizo staff have been working of late, between finishing off the magazines and starting up Pathfinder. Honestly, I'm surprised you post on these boards as frequently as you do!
I'm thinking now that I should just "let it go" when I see these things. I would in no way feel good about myself if someone's job was threatened b/c people kept pointing out typos. Jeez. There's a difference between pointing out something already in print--it's too late to fix it at that point--and pointing out something posted on the website. But even there I might let sleeping dogs lie. I don't want to be known as the guy always harping on these things, when it's a very small percentage of my posts.
(You suggested I had a typo of my own in my recent post, but I couldn't see it. Blindspot perhaps.) Edit: found it! "deliberatedly" Yes, um, I was going for irony :)

Aw, James, I didn't mean nuthin' by it. It just looked funny. And if it makes you feel any better, it took me way too long to come up with even that lame Price of Demons gag.
