What are you planning on playing in the new adventure path Ruse of the Runelords. (assume max gold and hit points at level one, 28 pt buy)
Meet Umlo Thistleknot
Male Gnome Ranger (1)--stats and write up to follow.
(planning on going 4 levels of fighter (yes an xp penalty for 2 levels) next then onto Gnome Giant-Slayer)
Gnomes seem to be a great choice for a PC bonus against goblins and Giants.
Does anyone think gnomes may over populate this new world...
granted Dwarves are a good choice to...

I most likely will DM it, but I'll have to take a look at the players guide and come up with something suitably interesting to play. There is a goblin ninja in the back of my head screaming to get out, but he probably wouldn't work well in the first scenario.

This is odd. One of my players is actually thinking of playing a gnome ranger as well. No one in the history of my gaming group we are going on nearly a dozen years now has ever played a gnome . . .when he mentioned it to me there was a serious moment of silence.

I seriously wonder if this brave new world will be over run with Gnomes. In my gaming group I dare say in 20 years we have only had one maybe two gnomes, intresting indeed. I do believe Gnomes are tailor made in this setting.
Maybe not setting, but the wee ones may be extra good for this AP. Hmm . . .I wonder if McArtor has anything to do with this . . . this gnome infestation.

This is awesome Larcifer! Perfect hometown as well. While I'll leave the final word on gnomes to Mike, here's what's been in the back of my head while working on the race.
Gnomes are members of the fey court. We're not quite sure what this is yet, but it's not like Titania and Oberon, and it might not even be part of Golarion, but whatever it is... it is not wholly friendly toward civilization as it exists for humans and elves. It's not actively hostile per say, but also not compatible with the way folks live.
Gnomes are fey intrigued by the humanoid cultures of Golarion. Their actions and society in the world are meant to emulate the other races... but they don't quite always get it right. That's where you get the overly grandiose names and exaggerated personalities. It'd be like if we all moved to the rainforest, set up an "authentic" village near a bunch of pygmies, and tried to blend in—we obviously don't look the same as them, our village might have some of the looks down but it's blatantly missing some things or done things wrong, and we obviously don't get the full reasoning behind everything our neighbors do or that we do to mimic them. Gnomes have been around for long enough that they're not totally alien in their mannerisms, but they probably were once. What they're trying to discover, why they emulate the other races, and who they might tell if they did discover something are all great secrets of the race. Gnomes also probably know the story of "their world," but if so, they're not telling.
So again, great choice! Have fun and I can't wait to hear how he does!

Umlo is starting D0 Hollow's last hope this weekend I will start a new thread entitled Umlo's chronicles to keep everyone updated, where should such a thread go? thanks guys!
There's a section of the messageboards for campaign journals. If my messageboard-fu was better I'd be able to point you there with a link of some sort...

I really like Wes' take on gnomes. Somehow I feel that gnomes didn't really fit into other worlds, like the Realms. Even the halflings have their own land there. With gnomes being members of the fey court, it adds sense and it also adds suspense to this 'fey court' which have been talked about (and is detailed in W1).
An AP involving the fey court somewhere along the lines would be cool .

Never, ever, admit that. Now you're scarred for life.
