In an old issue of Dungeon, there was a magic sword that slowly turned its wielder into a vampire as its special powers were used.

Anyone know which issue/adventure that was?

Yes. It's Baine's sword in "Thiondar's Legacy", Dungeon #30, page 59. I just looked it up, which is how I got the page number; my memories not THAT good! ;-) But I did instantly remember which adventure it was from... It was one of my favorites 15 years ago.
