Quick question regarding Gigantus in the Greater Halls. How did he survive all these years trapped in a dungeon? Nothing to eat, stuck in one room? Shouldn't he have died from starvation by now? Is the assumption that the grafted plates have somehow given him immortality? Or should there be something about the room he's in that removes his requirement to eat?
Thanks,
Greg

The snarky part of me points out that, using the rules as written... you simply can't starve to death in D&D; you just keep taking nonlethal damage. You never take lethal damage.
But! One of the constant pitfalls of designing levels for Maure Castle (and other big dungeons that are "sealed" and have little traffic into or out) is to make sure that all of the monsters in the dungeon are logical, that they DO have ways to sustain themselves. Monsters like elementals and outsiders and constructs are great for this, since they don't eat.
In Gigantus's case, though, he relies on his ring of sustenance, which is probably the simplest way to solve the problem. :-)

Wasn't there just an OotS comic similar to this? Where the guy was wearing a hair shirt and ate wet cardboard, cause there were not penalties for discomfort or hunger? Hah!
Something like that, don't have my mag with me right now.

There's a ring of sustenance?!?!
(Checks module...)
Ok, I feel stooopid. That'll teach me from posting from work without the magazine in front of me :-) For the life of me, I've read that entry at least 3 times, each time wondering how in the heck he survived. Never once did I see the ring of sustenance.
Thanks James,
