I'm looking for someone from Portugal to pester with some questions. In particular, I'm looking for someone from Viseu, but I'll settle for anyone familiar with the country and its history.
Failing that, I could sure use the help of someone that can read/write Portugese, and would be willing to translate something for me.

You might want to e-mail historical questions to the Portugese embassy in the US. Or whatever, lesser country you happen to reside in.(Kidding!)
They will probably only give very general answers, but might direct you to good sources of information.
I have emailed some embassies on historical questions before. Most have been helpful.

did i ever tell you about the portugese guy who stowed away on an Australian Warship visiting portugal. He hid in the radar dish which generates heat when active...they found him a while later and brought him down to the mess hall where they gave him a cup of coffee at which his guts fell out because he had been microwave cooked like a sausage.
Worse comes to worse, you should try a portugese-english dictionary.
