Should I make a discussion thread for this? So that we're not clogging this board up with the nonsense?
If you'd like. You'll probably get a bunch of random "Ooooh! Can I play!" posts at first because new PbP games are like bread crumbs to pigeons around here. You may accept or refuse players at your leisure.

You should filter for me and tell me if you recognize any good players amongst them.

Most of the people here are good folks and quality gamers. I doubt it's going to be much of an issue unless you want to be extraordinarily anal, in which case it's probably better that you don't even try.

BTW, PbP recruitment threads go in the 'Gamer Connection' area. It should be the next heading below the PbP Discussion area.

Now you tell me. :P

Fixed it, reposted to the Gamer Connection forum. Now we can let this thread get back to IK! w00t.

Okay, so, umm... Sy'yll and Yfel have one more stat point to spend because, ah, you're... level 4. You get a bonus point. Put it wherever you like. It won't affect your stats since I think all your ability scores are even numbers, but it might matter come level 8 when you get another one. (It might also matter if you suffer ability damage in the future... ghosts tend to do that. Just sayin'...)

Also, could people please list their characters' languages in the 'About' section of their profiles? The 'Languages' heading doesn't seem to be showing for anyone.

DM Fatespinner - IK wrote:
Like the people who came to our house to make Dragonstar characters a couple weeks ago? They were clearly intelligent (well, okay, the guy was at least) but definitely social limburgers.

Hehehe... yeah, I kinda had them in mind. ;P

Odd. I'd filled out the languages section and it remembers that I filled out the languages section but it doesn't display. weird. I copy and pasted it below the proficiencies.

Just a note folks. I'm going out of town tomorrow (to Newport Beach, CA on a business trip) and won't be back home until Tuesday. My boss basically promises that I'll be working full hours during the day and then going to the hotel and working some more, because there's a lot to do and it HAS to be done by Tuesday. (Kinda sucks but I basically volunteered for the job because a) I need the money and b) I want to go to California because I've been promised beach time.) SO... it's possible, depending on the availability of internet access at Niche's office (during LUNCH, because I'm not going to screw around on THEIR home turf, hehe) and at the hotel, I may not be posting as much.......... or even at all. We'll just have to see.

So... In case I don't see you, have a good weekend and try not to axesk Sy'yll or anything. ;)

You're too damn impatient. In PbP, it takes weeks to get something solid put together. A single storyline can take several months and a full campaign will run a year or more.

ROFL. Make Ian write the song. :P

Go Ian, go! *smirk*

I'm not impatient, I'm being silly. I'm just noting that the characters, thus far, have almost no motivation for being together or pursuing the Strangelight thing. :P

I already noted (in a conversation with Ian) that the events that have taken this long to write in PbP would've been the equivalent of about 10-15 minutes of tabletop. I know what the pace of PbP is. ;)

teehee. I thought you'd appreciate the chance to detail out the history of the Jackal's Grin in verse form. I even made it easy - grin rhymes with win. AND Jackal rhymes with hackle. I really don't know what more you could want. I do agree that something should explode soon. As things are now, we have awkward conversation and listen to Bri sing, get up in the morning and go our seperate ways. Mrr. I'm not complaining - it's been fun. And I'm not doubting - I know pbp takes a while to get spooled. All I know is if this was a game I was running, now is the part where something would blow up. preferably with the PC's in, on, or around it.

I'm not a big fan of the "force the PCs together with overwhelming violence" approach, especially not in the middle of Corvis' residential area. I have a plan, but it's not going to work like that.

Since everyone seems to be chomping at the bit for plot development, however, I'll make things blunt and accelerated.

Hehe, I don't so much demand plot development as some motivating factor to make Claudian relevant. Right now, the sullen 7-Charisma veteran talks quietly with people who've already been his friends, collects his evening meal at the end of his shift and heads up to bed. j0o know? Well, I mean, before Graves stomped in.

At least he's more likely to interact in plotlines than the "I disdain everyone but I just can't bring myself to be outright rude to you" Nyss. :P

Hey Zack&Ali... any idea what, if anything, is happening tonight? Is Marvin's game going to start?

Male Human Supreme Overlord

I don't think anything in particular is happening. We're playing World of Darkness tomorrow night, but you might want to confirm with Marvin.

Kay. You can come flail at Ali if you want. I'm sure she's going to be bored and in need of girl time since I plan on spending most of the night with my face glued to the shininess of the new MMO that I've been sucked into.

Mmm, I need girl time too, nodnod. I'll see what, if anything, she wants to do.

Which means my 3-year-old hardware has no problems whatsoever with it, unlike World of Warcraft: The Video Card Upgrade Crusade. Everything was fine until Outland came along and made me hate life enough to cancel my subscription. Hellfire Peninsula wasn't too bad. Neither was Blade's Edge. Zangarmarsh was slightly problematic, Nagrand a little more so, and Netherstorm was f+&@ing unplayable. Shattrath was even worse, and I had to go there all the freaking time. So I gave up.

Maybe next year when I have uber-1337 h4x0r c0mput0rz, I'll go back to WoW and pick up the Lich King expansion. EVE is planning a major graphics overhaul for sometime next year as well, though, and they're $2/mo. cheaper than WoW is... and I like it more.

For those of you who are unhappy with your current avatar, Gary recently added a bunch more and you can change them at any time. You might want to take a look to see if you can find something more to your liking... if you care.

Still nothing that positively screams Nyss... or even Sy'yll. :(

Just so's everyone knows, I am going to be in AZ staying at my folks house for the next couple of days, and hence will likely be down to one post a day or so. Zack - if you need an Ashleigh reaction to something and I am being slow feel free to just give me a call and I'll give you the gist and let you hash out the details.

*wailing and gnashing of teeth*

For the record, I don't care if you guys all go as a group to investigate the Cryxians. Act as your characters would. Don't get tangled up on "But why would I go?" If you wouldn't go, don't go. You're not going to ruin my master plan or anything. Just post something so that we know whether you're going or not and I can advance the scene.

Otherwise, I'm gonna start dropping warjacks from space.

Can someone who's frozen in time make a reflex save?

Can we name the Warjack From Space "Bumblebee"? :D

INTERNETS!

...you mean to tell me that in FIVE DAYS of utter silence, Ali couldn't find a moment to have Yfel say "Yes," pick her axe up and follow the group? (alternately, "No" + go upstairs)?

Randomly bumping this thread because I feel like it... and to handle any scene clarifications you may require of me.

Male Human Gamer 4 / Philosopher 7

I have this thread in my bookmarks list, so bumping it isn't a big deal for me at least.

Claudian really wants to smash that scraping claw with his mace-head, but he knows that might goof up the investigation at some point...

Hehe, yeah, the guards wouldn't appreciate you trashing the crime scene. If the scraping bothers him that much, Claudian could go sit on the dock with Thunker. You can't really hear it down there.

For what it's worth, did you notice that I added a bit more information to your 'cursory examination' after you made your reply? It's nothing terribly significant, but might be worth noting if you didn't already catch it.

Is there even enough wagon to conceal the amount of dead cryxians we have on hand?

Jackdaedalus wrote:

Yeah, your wagon train consists of three SUV-sized wagons. They're fairly loaded with supplies, but eight Cryxians could stash themselves in there. The issue is, how did they stash themselves in there without being noticed? They've got effing steam engines built into them!

For the edification of the group:

Yes. That.

Also, I will be leaving town on Thursday to visit the girlfriend's fam in Missouri (wish me luck). I will try to keep up the gamery, but I am not sure if the internet even *exists* there so we will see...

Alternatively, Ash could just go off into a corner to speak with the police for a bit and leave Sy'yll and Claudian to run amok.

I am in Missouri, and while there is internet access, it is not terribly convenient and it's slow as a a tectonic plate. I might be able to get a post or two in while I'm here but I can't garuntee it. Zack, if you're anxious to move things along I'm happy to communicate my bare bones intent over texts and let you actually type a post. Or something else. Anyhow the phone will be a more reliable means of contact than any internets for the next week or so. apologies.
