I was wondering, does a bard who is trying to fascinate a creature with SR, does the bard need to make a caster level check to by-pass the SR, since it is a magical effect. It seemd to me that a bard is very powerfull with a high perform modifier.
Spell-like abilities do need to check to bypass SR. You can generally tell an ability is a spell-like ability because it's italicized, or because it's followed by a (Sp) in its description. In any case, the fasscinate, suggestion, song of freedom, and mass suggestion abilities of the bard class are all spell-like abilities. His other bardic music effects are all supernatural abilities, and therefore automatically bypass SR.
