I saw this hard cover in the local game store. I hear it uses a slimmed down version of the Savage Worlds system. Has anyone tried this game or looked through it?

Hi there,

All we threw out was the magic system and any references that didn't fit the genre (like automatic weapons, cars, spaceships, orc, and so on). Then we added in things which did fit the genre, like fencing schools and more detailed ship combat stuff.

It's more an alternate version of Savage Worlds specifically geared to the PotSM universe than anything slimmed down.

Thank Wig! Pirates of the Spanish Main got a nod from one of the guys who runs at my local hobby store too! How well does it tie into 50 Fathoms? Any chance it will be run at Gen Con this summer?

I have seen a lot of love for Savage Worlds. You can drop $10 and get the Explorer’s Edition, which is pretty much the backbone of the system. A lot of the praise I have heard is put on Savage World’s mass combat.

I have the Explorer’s Edition and although it is not my cup of tea, I think if you are looking for a fast paced, rules light game you could do a lot worse.
