I have a group that is thinking about playing in the Savage Tide. They are picking a god and then all have at least a level of one the above mentioned cleric/ranger.
I am wondering what types of role-playing problems I may have in Scuttlecove and the Abyss. Will the paladins stand out like in Ravenloft?

I don't think so.
I played a little Ravenloft back in the day, and as I recall Paladins could be "sensed" and did stick out like a sore thumb in an evil tainted land.
A paladin may very well stick out in Scuttlecove based on how the paladin is played. The inhabitants of Scuttlecove (and the land itself in some instances, from what I remember of Ravenloft) won't be able to just sense a Paladin though.
The Ravenloft mechanic isn't present in the Savage Tide AP

I think it would depend on the type of paladin. If your using Unearthed Arcana, the Paladin of Freedom is an option. They wouldn't stick out too bad, especially with the right magic items and since they get Bluff as a class skill. The same with the clerics/favored souls, it would all depend on the deities involved.
Another thing to consider is the fact that most clerics and paladins clunk around in heavy armor, which is going to be very uncomfortable on the Isle of Dread, Scuttlecove, and some of the Abyssal locations. Think of the conquistadors in central America.
I kinda like the idea of a very divine party going against Demogorgon, like the gods know something is going down and are sending people to stop it.

Well, one of the things to note is that the AP takes place in a tropical climate and on boats/ships/near the water. So characters relying on heavy armor will be short changed in a number of situations, not the least of which will be found treasure (which can be altered by the DM, of course). Playing a party that's totally made up of lawful good/lawful neutral PCs can provide trouble in places like Scuttlecove and the Abyss (even under the Isle of Dread if they have enough of a problem with aboleths) if they refuse to hold to the "enemy of my enemy" philosophy.
Enforcing that they should choose their battles is an important part of running this party: remember that once the real villain of the campaign is revealed, they should have their eyes on the prize. If they get distracted with clearing out Scuttlecove of all of its residents and insist on spending undue time and resources trying to destroy it, you'll need to remind them that Lavinia languishes in captivity somewhere. If they STILL want to take down an entire city just because its evil and its there, you could transform Lavinia into a lemorian half-demon (and perhaps a death knight herself) to show them that even good deeds have consequences.

Well, I'm playing in STAP and alternating with the DM while I run AoW (studiously avoiding spoilers), so I don't know much about the story line (and well I shouldn't), but the heavily armoured knight type of paladin could have some serious problems with all the boat related shenannygins that seem to be going on. What about a prestige paladin (unearthed arcana) with levels of cleric and swashbuckler? I think this might work better in the campaign.
