Rowing a boat in a round?

Is it anywhere?

just curious I have a 18 STR fighter trying to row a dingy with very little weight in the boat other then him, & a light gnomish thief.

I can't seem to find any rules for rowing in any books? Anyone have any rowing knowledge to pass on?

i rules that a rowboat can move half the rowing PCs STR modifier x10 feet per round. usually its two people max who can fit to row in a small rowboat. but maybe there is no need to halve the STR modifier... i dont know.

The PHB (p. 164) lists the speed of a rowboat at 1.5 mph. This is equivalent to a speed of 15 feet/round (or 30 feet for a double move action). You could houserule adjustments for STR and weight, but the only actual rules I know of are these.

Thanks Haldir, now I'm going to have that Benny Hill sax music in my head all day, with the mental visual of the guy speed rowing around a pond.
