Parry rules / feats from Dragon #301....

3.5/d20/OGL

For some strange, I been thinking about these rules from the swashbuckler issue of Dragon (#301). They look good, but has anyone used them? Converted them to 3.5? Just wondering.

I haven’t used them but I’ve played other game systems that use parrying as a standard part of the game (Palladium, GURPS, etc.). Generally, these rules tend to really slow down melee. If your group wants to keep melee resolution at a good clip, this isn’t the way to go. If you like a more realistic feel (swashbuckling and the like) and are willing to put up with the slower action, these kinds of rules tend to work fairly well. I would recommend you experiment with it to see what the reaction is but reserve the right before hand to keep or remove them at your own discretion.
