Knight / Dwarven Defender

3.5/d20/OGL

Has anyone tried the Knight/Dwarven Defender build? I was thinking that this would be an excellent way making the best of both classes. What effect has it had on your game?

Liberty's Edge

I saw the possibility immediately, but haven't done anything with it yet.

I would suggest buying your DM a bag of expensive coffee, then talking to him about writing some racial substitution levels for dwarven knight...

Mounted combat? ride skill? My hairy dwarven philtrum!

Isn't that what a warboar is for?

Indeed.

But I must try this build

Liberty's Edge

Except doesn't the dwarfven defender need to plant his feet for defensive stance?

I think it just says that "he cannot move from the spot he is defending". Also, later on it says that "the defender cannot use skills or abilities the would require him to shift his position". Later the PrC gets a class ability called Mobile Defense that allows the defender to make "one 5-foot step each round without losing the benefit of the stance."

I just like the image of a dwarf on a huge armored boar. He could always dismount quickly to take on the orcish horde attempting to stream into the mines.

I think the stance complements the knight's abilities. Enemies will be drawn to him meaning he doesn't have to move ergo stay in defensive stance. Also, the terrain around him becomes difficult for foes. I think it suits really well.
