Hi all,
Gnomes are kind of the laughing stock of my D&D group and it turns out that I'd like to have one as cohort for my character, just to make a point.
My main character is a NE Human Rogue 4/Fighter 2; "black corsair"-type, about to take his first level in the Scarlet Corsair PrC. We are right in the middle of "Sea Wyvern's Wake" (STAP), looking for fresh water before we leave the coasts of the Amedio Jungle and head for the Isle of Dread.
Anyway, I'd need a good pic to illustrate that Gnomes can be mean, evil, threatening bad-asses. The cohort will be either a Bard or a Wizard, female or male does not matter.
So, do you know of any good quality art, available on-line, that I could use to represent that character?
I am currently surfing through Deviant Art, but any pointer would be welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Elfwood is a good suggestion. Wizards.com also has an art archive of published material, even some of the old "PC Portraits" from Dragon magazine. As long as you aren't reproducing the pieces for a published product, it should be fine to grab some of these for your own use. Tony Diterlizzi may still have pdfs of the small character sketches he did for Dragon a little while ago on his website (www.tonyditerlizzi.com?) that you can download and probably still get a lot of use from.

I would suggest deviantart.com
They have superb artists there and I am hiring a few right now at very decent prices. 5-30 bucks for line art, depending on complexity. I color them myself, so I save money that way.
You can sign up for free and all, send me a note (Mikkyo again lol) if you have any questions on how to find an artist.

Thanks, all! I found some good stuff on elfwood.
Tony Diterlizzi's work and the kind of pics on the link above are exactly the type of things that I really do not like about gnome imagery. The thick faery-friend with a red hat is not really what I have in mind when I think of a kick-ass hero. ;-)
But thanks a lot all for your help!
