Back Issues and other things

Customer Service

I remember seeing a thread asking what the "selected back-issues" were going to be. Has there been an answer to this that I am just to tired to find right now?
Is the selection going to be from the "Paizo-era" only? If so, then the 4 I don't have will leave 14 I won't be getting....
Dilemma, dilemma....

I want to get certain back-issues, but don't want to lose remaining credit because they are not available.

I want to get a look at the new line, but before I own it so I know what I'm really investing in. After all, I read most of the PHB for 3.5 standing in a game shop just to see if they fixed the glaring screw-ups I saw in PHB 3.0.

I am, as a friend keeps saying to me... "I am so corn-fused".

I love the job you guys have done with the magazines, but I need to know ahead of time that the world you're inventing is really the world I want to play in. I am not a fan of any of the currently published worlds. My home-campaign world has been dubbed "Generica" by my longer term players.

Store credit to purchase the few back-issues and then pick up the first issue of Pathfinder might be the way to go for me.

Has WotC actually produced anything that gives hope for this "on-line initiative" thing at all? I can't find any substatial evidence it exists.

Gary is writing the back-issue selection tool as we speak, so I'd guess you'll see the available options within the week.

Nifty. That will get one of minor dilemmas brought to an end.
Thanks

Is there any news on which back issues will be available?

We got ambushed by the fact that the new postage rates meant a lot more effort than just changing the tables—the USPS removed entire mail classes, and changed the requirements of others—so Gary's been working non-stop on that pretty much since I made that post. And he'll be cleaning that work up over the next few days, so it might take another week or so to get the backissues ready.

The good news is that Gary's done with his part, but we're not quite ready to start fulfilling all of those issues yet, so we're in a holding pattern.

Liberty's Edge

Might we be able to see the list of issue that we will be able to pick from? I'm still kind of nervous that the ones I need will not be offered.

Here's another question (and one I don't remember seeing before ...)

Say I pick my issues and one or more are gone? In other words, I pick an issue listed as being available but by the time you get to my request, you run out of that issue? Will we be alerted at that time or will we we asked to make alternate choices when we pick our back issue up front?

Thanks Paizo folks!

From what I understand of Gary's coding, once you pick an issue, that issue is reserved from our inventory for you. Since we know how many copies of each issue we have in the warehouse, there really shouldn't be a situation where we run out of an issue.

(The tension builds....)
So we can soon look forward to the agonizing process of deciding which of the back issues we want, right?

The back issue selection page has an "autofill" button that attempts to be smart about selecting issues that you don't already have. It's not terribly smart, but it does pay attention to issues you've received (or purchased as back issues) since Paizo started publishing the magazines. (And if you don't like what the autofill robot selected, you can easily undo its choices.)

Also, the issues are separated by D&D edition, so you can focus on selecting only 3.0-specific issues if that's your thing.

Sounds great - I have my wish list compiled and ready to go.

The big question now is ... do we have a FIRM date yet as to when this will happen?

Thanks!

I'm told we're going for the middle of July.

Liberty's Edge

Really? Wow!!! That sounds better than August!

Just to reiterate ... we will receive an e-mail telling us when it is time to start, right? I'm assuming this e-mail will have a link of some kind to the actual back issue order site?

Last question: once we select our back issues, will we receive some kind of follow up e-mail confirming that our issues are in stock (as in, you didn't run out from other people selecting them already) and that our selections are 'locked' in?

Sorry to be so curious ... I'm just a very detail oriented person.

As always, thatnks so much for being so awsome there in Paizo land!

Yes and yes.

Well, the selection of issues you'll see will be generated from our real-time inventory and order system, so the only way that an issue could be unavailable is if somebody else nabbed the last copy between the time you pulled up the list and the time you submitted your choices (and you'd find out about that before you finalize your selection). Once you finalize your selection, it immediately generates an order, so you'll get a standard order confirmation e-mail, and then a shipping confirmation as it actually leaves our warehouse.

OK, so I'm really impatient AND excited to get some baddly needed back issues, so hopefully you'll forgive me, but ...

It's July 5th, so the "middle of July" is rapidly approaching. Do you have an actual date yet? I eagerly check my e-mail each day now like a little puppy waiting for a very special treat!

For that matter, I guess I should first ask if you still are shooting for the middle of July?

Still mid-July. We should have an exact date late next week.

Liberty's Edge

Sounds great! Thanks so much for the quick response Lisa!

...and now we're shooting for early next week. Sorry for the delays, but we need to make sure the warehouse is ready to handle this, and right now, they're still catching up from the Order of the Stick shipping.

Dangit, Loja! Now I have that idiotic song stuck in my head! :\

Just remember there are worse songs to stick in there. Songs about yellow brick roads, songs that never end, songs about a lovely lady and her three lovely little girls...

But I wouldn't want to be remembered as some sadist or anything...

Songs about lovely coconuts standing in a row...

Is there a cut-off date for when we have to have back issues picked by?
Will the PDF lists be updated/added to?

A couple of issues that I was looking for are not available in either PDF or Print.

No, and yes. In that order, too!

Umm... I just checked my order history...

Why is it that the back issues that I ordered (to fill out the remainder of my Dragon Subscription) back on Aug 09, 2007 still pending!?

When are these 'pending' magazines actually going to be sent out, considering that I now consider this order a month overdue?

Addendum to my previous post:
I got an E-mail Friday the 7th stating that my back-issues were finally ready to ship out of the warehouse...

So, I guess I'll have to wait the 10+ days to see if they arrive, eh?

Note: I'm sorry I'm being so pessimistic lately, I don't know why, I guess it has to do with the recent delivery failures for the Windsor fulfillment office...
