I was just wondering as far as the overall timeline of the setting goes, will it advance? For example, if the stone giants from the Runelords storyline end up liking humanity and opening themselves for trade, if the region is mentioned as bordering the giant's domain is mentioned later, will the giants be listed as friendly traders or as insular and mistrustful (all of the above is just an example to illustrate the point).
I can understand if a sequal to a given adventure path comes along that it might be assumed to be set after the first one, and certain events have or haven't happened, but overall, will each adventure assume that the timeline starts at the same general starting point?
Part of why I'm asking this is because each setting seems to have its own way of dealing with advancing its timeline. DragonLance shoots ahead with each major storyline, Forgotten Realms has a set progression based on how much time has passed in "real time," and classic Greyhawk seemed to stay static at its starting point, introducing adventures in various regions happening more or less at the same time, with the exception of "sequals."
I'm not advocating one over the other, as I think this has to feel natural for the setting, but from what I have read of the concept and how it will be used, a "Classic Greyhawk" approach seems to be what's best, not really advancing the timeline, just introducing new regions as new adventures are set there. But I'd be curious to hear about what the "official" stance on this is.
