Expedition to the Demonweb Pits / Savage Tide

Savage Tide Adventure Path

**Spoilers**

My group is still running the Age of Worms but when that is complete I have no doubt the Savage Tide is next.

However, being old school the idea of going back into the Demonweb Pits is something I know my group would like to do.

With a little modification to the Expedition adventure namely removing the Aspect of Demogorgon at the Demon Prince Council and substituting an Ambassador for him could be used to fore shadow the adventure City of Broken Idols as to why Demogorgon didn’t attend the summit.

The question is, would an early trip to the Abyss and all the encounters with the Demon Prince Aspects ruin the last arc of the Savage Tide or could it instead be used to build up the tension of the players knowing that they may have to work with Grazz't and others whom they may have offended early on?

What do you folks think?

Wolf Baur did a pretty good job making sure that "Expedition to the Demonweb Pits" doesnt' clash too much with what's going on in Savage Tide. Which is why when you see Graz'zt and Lolth playing a huge role in one campaign you won't see them playing huge roles in the other, for one thing.

Personally, I think that an early trip to the Abyss would steal the thunder of Savage Tide's end game; it also robs the Savage Tide of its backbone on the Isle of Dread, since running "Demonweb" pretty much replaces the need to run "Here There Be Monsters" through "City of Broken Idols."

My advice: pick one and save the other for later.

My assumption was that the OP was planning on a short EttDP campaign and then starting the ST campaign with new characters from 1st level. I haven't read EttDP yet, so I'll hold off on an answer.

To do either any real justice you would find it difficult to combine them. I guess you can say you are spoilt for choices :-)

Not sure what I'll do. Honestly, I don't it would be that difficult to combine the two, I've already come up with a few ideas. But James has some good points, think I'll see what the mood of the campaign is when we reach that point.

First my players are off to see Dragotha.
