Drakthar's Way

Shackled City Adventure Path

I am running SCAP in Eberron and as such am going to be modifying several of the chapters. Goblinoids of Eberron are a noble, warrior race so I am thinking of replacing Drakthar and the goblins with something else. Any suggestions?

You could keep Drakthar as he is, tainted by the darkness, and if you really wanted to I suppose it would be fairly easy to change the Goblins into Kobolds. They're a similar challenge, easily cowed by Drakthar, rising up against the town and sprawling on walls in feces, whilst working together in large numbers. And they do love their petty traps and ambushes, so Drakthar's Way should keep the same feel to it if you were to replace the creatures.

Hmm...I am thinking about having Drakthar be a corrupted Gatekeeper druid who masquerades as a vampire (I read a post on this a while back and have liberally yoinked from it).

He is helping the Cagewrights smuggle materials for the Tree of Shackled Souls and has enlisted the help of the Last Laugh to make sure everything transitions smoothly. (Again, yoinked from the same post)

Aside from this, I am hoping to add a more 'Eberron' feel to this whole side-adventure. Kobolds could work, but I never really saw them fitting in anywhere in Eberron. As such, I might just opt to use standard races (as low level cultists) or low CR aberrations. Any more suggestions are welcome.

How about you make Drakthar be the ring leader of a Cult of the Dragon Below (perhaps as a Dolgaunt), and replace the goblins with Dolgrim.

It may just be me, but I feel that ANY Eberron campaign needs to run into a Cult of teh Dragon Below and tehir aberation cronies at some stage.

That's definitely a good idea mevers. However, wouldn't it seem kind of redundant to use dolgrims/dolgaunts again after using them in Life's Bazaar? (I'm thinking of replacing the hobbos with dolgrims and Kazmojen with a neogi to keep the whole aberration feel) :D

true, foprgot about that. And they certainly do "fit" better in life's bazaar than in Drakthars way.

Another option is to completely abondon Drakthars way. It doesn't add anyhting to the plot, and when i ran through life's bazaar with my group, they were already up to level 4 by the end of it, so I relly should have had them head straight into flood season.

One option might be to run one of the Eberron modules out of recent dungeon magazines. I have heard GREAT things about "Chimes at Midnight," I ran my group through "Tensions Rising" (although that is Dolgrims and Dolgaunts again), and "Riding the Rail" was also pretty cool.

Riding the rail should be pretty easy to scale down to level 3, has a nice "Eberron" feel to it. The only tough thing would be getting them on the lightning rail in the first place, but I am sure you can come up with some reason.
