Quickie Stat book for The Bullywug Gambit

Savage Tide Adventure Path

After an embarassing incident using a Giant Croc instead of a normal Croc in TINH, I have officially gotten sick of flipping through/between various books.

With my scanner and some cut and pasting I have made some quickie ugly stat pages that puts it all together for The Bullywug Gambit for my personal use. Not pretty but I thought other people might find them useful. I don't want to get in trouble for posting something I shouldn't (Copyrighted material?) So I thought I would ask first...

Heh. Good to know I'm not the only one who did that. :)

Even with me fudging it a bit ("a Giant Croc does *how* much damage? And then it *deathrolls*? Eh, think I'd better let the combat happen in the just created 'shallow end of the pool'...) my group only barely survived, even though they're probably overpowered.

The Exchange

For the answer to your Q, Alarik, I'm pretty sure it's fine for you to do that sort of thing as long as you don't turn around and re-distribute your creation...especially if you do so for profit.

Hi Lord Alarik,

You're probably fine. Stat blocks, like all adventure elements printed in DUNGEON, are copywrited material. Offering DUNGEON's copyrighted material, even if not for profit, does violate Paizo's copyrights. Nonetheless, others have made DUNGEON adventure stat blocks available on their websites, announced it on threads on these messageboards, and no one at Paizo has objected.

I dare not speak for the powers that be, so this is just my opinion. When we share stat blocks, we're investing ourselves more deeply in DUNGEON. Stat blocks mean little without the adventures that contain them. (What good is a combat without a story to hold it? Oops . . . wrong thread!) Our enthusiastic exchange of adventure elements like stat blocks (but not entire adventures) should please Paizo because that exchange facilitates our use of DUNGEON's adventures if we already own the magazine, and thereby ensures our continued devotion to purchasing the magazine itself.

My sense is that Paizo's silence on other threads' open exchange of stat blocks indicates Paizo's acknowledgement of the benefits to Paizo of our exchange. So you're probably fine.

But what the hell to I know.

Try posting a reply over in Mando's Savage Tide Encounters PDF thread. Mando's done some excellent work, and I've been using them to good effect with my group.

Hee hee, When I pulled out the giant croc it almost killed the character of the guy who ran the last campaign.

The rest of the party thought it was sweet karmic revenge because during that campaign he repeatedly had NPCs use Monster Summoning III to get Dire Apes instead of the normal Apes (say hello to his friend *R*E*N*D*.)

We did not catch on until we got high enough level to cast it ourselves...

Thanks for the info on that other thread, I got this straight from the horses mouth:

If you'd like to share this with others via email, that'd probably be okay. Posting it on a website starts to get into the shades of legality, but I'm not sure WHAT shades.

Darn, I already uploaded them all to some webspace, but hesitated right before posting (I made a save to avoid possible Legal Reaming) But at least it will save me some effort in the future.
