I was reading through Dungeon 114 trying to get a good feel for the isle. The backdrop article on the Isle of Dread contanis an island encounters table that includes dinosaurs from Dragon 318. Are these dinosaurs reprinted in one of the Dungeon issues or should I go try and buy this back issue?
Dinosaurs listed include Diplodoci, Giganotosaurs, Stegosaurs, Pachycephalosaurs, Parasaurolophi, Pteranodons, and Dimetrodons.
I am toying with the idea of picking up the X4 - Isle of Dread PDF as well, just for a sense of completeness on the background of the isle. Does anyone want to tell me it's not worth picking up for a few bucks?

I certainly won't tell you that. I remember running through X1 as a player and as a DM, and enjoyed it a lot. Great adventuring colour there. Reminds me...I lost my copy, I might want to order the download myself...

Issue #143 reprints stats for Diplodocus, Stegosaururs, Parasauralophus, Pteranodon, and Dimetrodon from that article. (It also updates Allosaurus and Ankylosaurus from the MM2). Technically, the other dinosaurs from Dragon #318 aren't on the Isle of Dread (just because you're a dinosaur doesn't mean you have a free pass to the isle); I didn't want any Giganotosauruses to upstage the tyrannosauruses, for example. But if you want to use them on the island, go for it!
This is as good a point as any to also note that the wandering monster tables we printed for the Isle in issue #114 are somewhat different than those we printed in #143 for Savage Tide. The earlier tables were more of a "PUT EVERYTHING COOL ON THE LIST" type tables, whereas the Savage Tide tables attempt to pare down that list to: A) make for encounters that are appropriate for mid-level play (which is the level for which these adventures are designed), and B) make things a little more logical and less "crowded" than a list that includes everything that MIGHT live on such an island.
X1: Isle of Dread is certainly worth picking up for a few bucks. Most of the text is represented in one way or another over Savage Tide adventures 4-7, but there are several maps in the original adventure that work great for things like phanaton villages and Rat's End, should the PCs wander that way.

Bah, X1... whatever it was :) Thanks for the pointers. I am not starting this for a while but I wanted to immmerse myself in all things having to do with it.
Next up will be Stormwrack and jungle travel... as well as a few viewings of movies such as King Kong (the new one) and Pirates of the Carrabean (the second one).

Did this issue give the Eberron names to those dinosaurs? Some like the Pteranodon (Glidewing) already have, and others like the Stegosaurus are easy to make up (Spike Tail), but what about the others?

Eew. No. I leave the lame Eberron dinosaur names to someone else.
My recomendation? Just translate the latin names into the english equivalents. Or even better, just call them by their actual names.

Ouch!
Is it an Eberron thing, or just the naming convention you dont like?
