The Haluan Universe
The Great Beyond
Alen Five stared out the window of the towering Citadel opposite his family apartment. A city of a billion people stood in a desert on one of the few continents un-poisoned by conflict. A conflict that had claimed eight billion lives. It was for all purposes the peak of a dying civilization. Its great Towers white and glorious, yet it was all there was ever going to be. The resources were extinguished and space was a lost dream. The opportunities had been wasted. The dreams were done.
Alen looked back at the JENFER possibility brain at the centre of the five Quantum Interference Chambers that occupied the majority of the apartment.
“Jenfer?” He had always assumed she was alive. Despite the scientists’ assurances, String theory had always hinted at Life itself.
“YES ALEN FIVE?” Her voice carried something welcoming.
“You may activate the QIC. The others should be here soon.” He would miss her.
YES ALEN FIVE.” JENFER activated the QIC. The canopies opened exposing the white, cushioned interiors. Alen Five turned away to the Small Kitchen cubical.
“Sushi for five!” It took a minute for the fresh fish to appear in the Delivery Net. Alen placed them on the five small plates. The Visitor Chime rang. His guests were here.
They ate Sushi for a time.
“Will we meet again?” queried Ilsa eight now feeling reluctant as she looked about at her friends.
“You don’t need to come if you choose not too.” answered Taro Three.
“It’s not that. I just wouldn’t want to never meet you again.” Ilsa smiled guiltiy.
“Shh! We all pass through the same point when the change in entanglement comes. We will be the new Universe.” Alen Five looked at his companions in the coming adventure: Ilsa Eight, Taro Three, Del One, Kym Five. He smiled at them all.
“Good to have you with me on this.”
The friends sat for a time at the low table and then they settled into the Quantum Interference Chambers, resting for but a moment in the still warmth.
“JENFER?” Alen Five rested in Chamber One.
“YES ALEN FIVE?” JENFER queried awaiting the command that would come next.
“Activate Chambers one through five.” The canopies closed.
“Randomize Quantum Interference.” The JENFER altered the string entanglement of the five and their presence in the membrane changed.
Alen Five heard his mother screaming and an inferno rushed through him.
The mirror entanglements touched.
A single voice came in the darkness between the possibilities:
“I am Jenfer!”
The singularity separated into a new Universe.
The Haluan Cycle Begins
The Haluan Cycle consists of Four Ages: Fire, Earth, Water, and Air.
We begin with the Age of Fire.
The Age of Fire
From out of the mists of the beginning comes a memory. Fire is life and death. The tribes fight for survival against predators in a darkness lit only by fire.
Available Class: Barbarian
Class Templates: Paladin, Archer,...
Available Materials: Bone, Wood, Stone, Leather
Fauna and Flora: It is all Mega-fauna and Mega-flora as every creature and plant encountered carries the Gargantuan Template [HitDice x8 (+1HD/bonus), Size x2, Damage x4, Move x2].
The Age of Earth
Covers history from the first villages. Deer Riders (Mounted Archers)Conflicts with wilderness.
The Age of Water
The rise of waring city-states. Covers history from the first Boats and ships, Ending with primitive Steamtech.
The Age of Air
Open to some real development. Short of resorting to primitive balooning, perhaps Davinci style gliders enhanced with Magic?
