Apologies if this has been mentioned before, I'm slow on the uptake.
My party just finished The Sea Wyvern's Wake (I'm the DM) and I had an issue with the vine horror monsters. Their AC is listed as:
AC 19, touch 13, flat-footed 16
And their Dex is 10. So they have a +3...deflection bonus to AC? Dodge bonus to AC? Is this a typo? My party had a real tough time with the vine horrors and I was just curious.
Thanks!

I'm guessing it's a copy and paste error, someone copied the stat block of Sutolore on the page before and forgot to change that line.
Vine Horrors from the Fiend Folio should be...
AC 18, touch 10, flat-footed 18
as they have +8 natural armour.
They have also lost their Special Quality of taking only half damage from piercing and slashing weapons. Although to be honest I would have thought it would make more sense to take half damage from piercing and bludgeoning weapons. This might have been a decision rather than an error however.
The rest looks fine.

The missing "Half damage from piercng and slashing" changed into DR 5/bludgeoning in the 3.5 update. Looks like what happened was that we deleted the old, out of date "half damage from piercing and slashing" bit but forgot to add in the new, 3.5 DR 5/bludgeoning. AND we messed up the AC... they should be AC 18, touch 10, flat-footed 18.
(heavy sigh)

In 3.0 there was no DR verse weapon types, just DR X/+Y where X was the amount of DR and Y was the plus on the magic weapon. So creatures that were resistant to certain weapons usually either suffered half damage or no damage.
With 3.5 they introduced DR /slashing or DR /piercing or DR /magic , etc. So creatures like the Vine Horror that originally appeared in the 3.0 Monster book Fiend Folio tend to get updated to reflect these new rules, so as it use to take half damage from slashing and piercing weapons (in 3.0) it gains DR5/bludgeoning in 3.5 and loses the half damage ability.
