Isle of Dread backdrop in #114

Savage Tide Adventure Path

I was just wondering how useful the Isle of Dread Backdrop in issue #114 is when running the STAP. I'm thinking about picking up the .pdf, and it seems that for $5 is is hard to go wrong. However, since I'm buying sight unseen, I was wondering if anyone else out there already had it, and if so, how much have you actually used it with the AP? Thanks.

For the price of the PDF, it absolutely cannot hurt to pick it up.

However, between the various adventures set on the Isle of Dread and the Savage Tidings articles in Dragon, including the Ecology of the Isle of Dread, I don't think you need it.

Good to know. I will probably pick it up. I don't have a subscription to Dragon, and I'm not planning on getting one, so I have not been getting the Savage Tidings articles. However, there are some things I'd like to flesh out, so I might pick up an issue or two.

On a related note, was there a Dragon magazine where the racial adjustments for Phanatons can be found? It'd be cool to have them as a potential PC race, not to mention it makes creating NPCs easier if I have that info.

Dragon #351 has the Ecology of the Isle of Dread (which is actually the journal of Larissa Vanderboren found in the family vault in "There Is No Honour" - I think the Savage Tidings in that issue addresses phanatons as replacement PCs.

I have just checked Dragon #351, and it does include information for playing phanaton characters in the Savage Tidings article, on page 71.

Thank you very much for the info :)

I lost my copy. Was #141 just a setting, or was there an adventure in it, too? I recall an earlier thread were people were asking if they should run some previous adventure during the STAP. Was this it, or were they talking about the original X1? I was moping to revisit the idea once my group reached the Isle, but I can't find that earlier thread.

I remember reading that the "other" adventrue was for 5th level PCs. I thought it might be fun to do a "March of the Gods" sidetrek, where PCs can just wipe the floor with the enemy for a change.

There is an adventure in it - "Torrents of Dread" - and it is aimed at 4 6th level characters. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, so I have no comment on quality, but there it is.
