Paizo Publishing®, LLC Celebrates "Paizo Five"
Paizo announces their GameMastery Modules Line!
February 6, 2007 (BELLEVUE, WA) – Paizo Publishing turns five this year and, to celebrate, they've promised their most aggressive and exciting line-up of games and gaming products to date! Starting with February and continuing through the end of the year, Paizo will make at least one Paizo Five announcement each month. These major announcements will cover new and exciting products, company changes, and a late summer release of a line of products Paizo's never produced before.
The Paizo Five announcement for February is a line of stand-alone adventures called GameMastery Modules. GameMastery Modules will be 32-page, high quality, full-color, OGL-compatible adventures for use with your favorite d20 fantasy RPG and will retail for $12.99 USD. They will be available at your local hobby store or bookstore and online at paizo.com.
GameMastery Module D1: Crown of the Kobold King releases this June and pits low-level players against an evil Kobold King and his minions who've spilled forth from their dungeon to menace a local village. Written by fan favorite author Nicolas Logue, Module D1 will be the backdrop for a huge, three-dimensional "delve" event premiering at Origins 2007.
GameMastery Module W1: Conquest of Bloodsworn Vale releases in July and sends mid-level players into the wilderness of Bloodsworn Vale to tame the monsters within. Module W1 is written by Jason Bulmahn.
GameMastery Module D2: Seven Swords of Sin releases at Gen Con in August and challenges mid-level players to thwart an evil enchantress who has stolen the fabled Seven Swords of Sin and stored them deep within her deadly dungeon lair. Module D2 will be the backdrop for Paizo's second summer "delve" event held at Gen Con Indy. This product is unique in that its story was written by an established designer but its room content was written via an internal Paizo Publishing "Deadliest Room" contest. If you want to give your players a challenge, run them through the bloodiest, most visceral, most heinous rooms the Paizo Publishing employees could think of.
"There are a lot of adventure products on the market," says Jason Bulmahn, Paizo's GameMastery Brand Manager and Managing Editor of DRAGON. "We are committed to delivering the highest quality adventure modules written by some of the best in the industry."

I am super excited about this whole new line!!! Bloodsworn Vale...now that's an awesome title. If it's even half as good as "Here There By Monsters" than I can't freaking wait to read/play/run it. HTBM, was absolutely outstanding, best wilderness adventure I have ever read hands down. Jason B. delivers the goods!!!

I only regret that I have but one gaming session a week to give for Paizo.
Seriously, I'm still working on Age of Worms, and you tempt me with this? If only the PCs would stop dying and get on with the story. :)
I'm really interested in this series. I was glad when Wizards started publishing modules again, but I have been disappointed by their releases in this page/price range. I'm sure Paizo can do much better.
One of the announcements (but not all of them) mentions that this will be a monthly series of modules.
If so, would there be any chance of doing a subscription service? I'd be willing to pay $120 to have a full year of modules by your highly esteemed authors mailed to my door. It might save a bit of money to mass-mail them instead of individually shipping them, and it could guarantee a certain number of sales.
With Paizo's shipping rates, I'd be inclined to wait several months and buy them in a lump purchase, which wouldn't make for ideal enjoyment, and also adds the risk that the purchase wouldn't be made. Alternately, I'd probably order from alternative vendors, which would seem to mean less money for Paizo.
So will the various adventures be linked together e.g., D1 leads to D2 leads to D3? Or will they all be stand alone?
I'm psyched.

I'd love to see a Dark Sun mod. produced, just to see what the sales would be, among other things...
Alzo, something like S4 Tsojcanth, with about 10-15 new monsters in a special booklet in back would get me psyched.
And/or a special adventure picture-o-stuff booklet, as in S3, C1, and possibly other classics I can't think of right off the bat. Oh, yeah...S1...duhh;

Since Paizo isn't affiliated with WotC other than through Dragon and Dungeon magazines, any products we produce outside of those magazines can't draw upon any of the WotC-owned IP such as GH/FR/Eberron/PS/etc. Therefore, what you are going to see is adventures written by the top notch talent that makes Dungeon so good, but set in a world that is totally new. You can bet that it will give homage to the great D&D settings of the past, while pushing the boundaries into the future. Should be really fun. How often do you have Erik Mona, James Jacobs, and Jason Bulmahn getting together to make a new campaign setting? Then throw in the awesome talents of our pool of freelance writers, and I think you are going to love what we have in store for you. :)

Any chance you'll be selling other products like Map Packs, Item Cards, or mini sets that compliment the new modules?
Assuming they're well-received, Map Packs, Flip-Mats, and especially Item Cards that feature some of the stuff from the adventures are likely. I think we're out of the minis business for now, though.
What's the format going to be like? I know Goodman's modules have the "first edition feel" packaging going on... Are you guys going with that, or something else?
32 full-color pages, 8.5x11... Look for the same high quality you've come to expect from Paizo. Functional but good-looking layout... great art, great maps, all that stuff.
Also, any artists and/or cartographers lined up yet?

Indeed. My girlfriend is half Korean, so I get to try out all kinds of yummy (and occasionally not yummy) foods. When she started drinking yerba mate I called it tea and was rebuffed. I still don't know what it is. :\

Ahhh, it hurts...I hate being vegetarian now somedays.
I used to live in the Little Korea area of Beijing (up in Haidian near Yuyanxueyan for those of you Beijing afficiandos). I lived there for a year, and I never ate so good. Korean food is the bomb...sadly, as a vege-ma-head now, there is not much Korean food I can eat anymore...sadness.
Well we're both vegetarians so sometimes she has to be slightly creative with the ingredients. But yeah, Korean food FTW. :)

At school I was made an "honorary Korean" because I liked their food so much (even the long-fermented rotting stuff. Mmmmm!). Although vegetarianism is a form of masochism I can't seem to persist in (I tried it once, but then I actually felt bad for the plants, too), unfortunately, Korean restaurants in Texas are few and far between.

Awesome! I would totally dig on a Dol Sot Bim Bim Bop (sp!?) with tofu and eggs instead of beef and eggs (I still eat eggs sometimes). Bim Bim Bop so good!!!

Why would I want to drop $13 for a single adventure by the same crew that gives me three adventures/month for only $8? What do these mods have that I'm not getting in my monthly Dungeon Magazine?
