Creating a Kyuss Knight

Well, as my many posts have implied, our group is in, "'Into the Wormcrawl Fissure,' and I must say as a DM I am having a blast running the Path. (Note to advertising execs: "Find the Path" with adventure paths! Harhar!) At the end of 'Kings of the Rift', they had a horrific airborne fight with Brazzemal, who ended up dishing out some serious hatred once the PCs destroyed the big D's phylactery. During the fight, one of the PC's cohorts (Bugbear Fighter 6/Ranger 6,hates undead+dragons) was slain by Brazzemal, and since everyone was running/flying in the opposite direction of the big angry red, his body has left behind. Well, Brazzemal took the body since he couldn't have revenge on the still living, which had on it both of the Wind Duke's swords, a Wild Watcher's elemental banner, and a host of bane weapons...Well, my PC's have written the cohort off as dead since their scrying on the body showed them Brazzemal flying into the Tabernacle of Worms with cohort in tow.
As a DM who likes to put the occasional fear into his players, my question is this- (yes, this is mean...but cinematically horrifying as well)
Is it possible to turn an already dead PC into a Kyuss Knight, such as what Dragotha did to Maralee? If so, do you give the Kyuss Knight the generic stats for one of their kind? Is there perhaps a template used to get them like that (I'm gueessing no since most of them are the same except for the gifts). Finally, what other gifts besides the ones the existing knights possess (which are all quite good) are out there? Make em' up? I could use some creative insight...I'm already picturing a Kyuss knight with Wind Duke swords flying down from the Spire in 'Dawn of a New Age'...

The kyuss knights are intentionally not templates; D&D is already full up on the templates, especaially when it comes to powerful undead. That said, each Kyuss Knight has two different gifts, and those gifts should (if possible) relate to the knight's role in life, as a sort of mockery of that person's accomplisments in life. So in closing, I'd have the cohort-turned-knight simply have standard Kyuss Knight stats (or perhaps advanced, depending on how tough you want), but tailor the gifts to that character.

Why wait for DoaNA? Have the party meet the new Kyuss Knight as Dragotha's "pet" when they meet him in the Writhing Tabernacle (similar to what was done to Balakarde with his sister). Dragotha IS a vindictive SOB, after all...

I wanted to delay the post-ressurection that would occur immediately after said kyuss knights defeat. My group is right in the heart of the module, getting ready to befriend Zulshyn by seeking out Thesselar after having already impressed her with five DC 35 perform checks (James Jacobs, you rule. Thanks for letting the bard get to shine again when it matters) I wasn't sure if I'd have time to fully develop the Kyuss Knight, but I may do just that. The fight on the spire looks pretty grim, and I don't want to overwhelm them with what's there. For a proper challenge rating 17, I guess I should advance the formerly living 15HD character from a normal Kyuss knight (16 HD) up to a 32HD menace. That would help even out some of their allies since they'll most assuradly have Zulshyn, an Apocalypse Golem, and a Solar/Ranger 5 menace.

Do Kyuss Knights follow standard advancement rules, and is it possible for their two gifts' powers to raise their CR by an additional one?
