Canon Information - for an adventure path

3.5/d20/OGL

I am currently trying to put together an idea Ive had to do with the decreasing level of Magic within Oerth. This involves people like Tharizdun, Sehannine, Lendor, The People of the Testing, the Scarlet Brotherhood and a bit of time travel. The problem is that intend to change the perception of tharizdun. The adventurers are going to find out that tharizdun is not the dark and evil deity that everyone percives but is infact the embodiment of magic itself. this will eventually pit the adventurers against good and evil nd work for and against good a evil as they come up against the Cult of Tharizdun and those against the Cult. I am just trying to pull the concept together but do not have all the historic details of tharizdun and the whole business of his imprisonment.

Anyone who could fill me in on this info or point me in the right direction would be diamond. I have tried to divulge enough of the idea to help me without giving away how the plot will run. if anyone requires more info to help I will contact them by another means.

I take it that either there is no imagination left in the world
or
that there is no one with the answers that I need. Oh well, the search goes ever on.

Jacko,

There are sources about Tharizdun but I'm not sure how much they will help. Your perception (however cool it may be) of Tharizdun is radically different from the traditional view of him.

Anyways, as far as I know he was imprisoned eons ago by other gods (now long dead or forgotten) because he could potentially wipe out all existence. He's the "un-creator" you might say. Very evil, very insane and so are his followers. A 2nd ed. book called Monster Mythology has a write-up of a being called The Dark God that is considered to be Tharizdun on Oerth, it has some good info. There is also a being in it called the Elder Elemental Eye that was an insane god (a throwback to the original drow series) and recently (3rd Ed.) these two beings are said to be the same god - Tharizdun. This is all explained in Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. Also. Dragon mag #294 has a full write-up of him for 3E, and the same issue also has some cool artifacts about him. Worth checking out.

I think some of the Greyhawk novels, I'm not sure which ones...Gord the Rogue maybe, have some more in depth info on Tharizdun.

So currently he's trapped in a demiplane prison and his priests work 24/7 to free him and bring about the end of the universe, or something like that.

Hope that helps!

My Faith in humanity is restored, bless the gods and thank you Luz.

This would more likely be a better forum for this.
