Gate Spell Question

In my PHB, it says a Gate Spell can't open to two different places on the same plane. Is there any other spell that does this besides teleport? And the crossroads/backroads thing from FR? I don't want teleport, I want a door in the air like a gate, that can connect two places on the same plane.

I am going off the top of my head here...

Isn't there some kind of "shadow door" spell that basically does that? Kind of similar to "tree stride" or "fire stride".

I think that there are some magic items as well -- I am thinking specifically of "ring gates".

At least that is just off the top of my head.

Can't think of a spell, but you could use or modify the item Ring Gates in the DMG.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't simply declare that a teleportation circle behaves this way. That's my best suggestion.

Seems how you are talking about the Forgotten Realms, I would look at their rules for creating the Gates that are located all over the FR. They might give you an idea of what spell to choose. But I do agree that you could use the Mass Teleport to represent what you are looking for.

Thanks guys! I think the whole thing is saved.
I hate it when you have an idea, and then look at the rules and realize "it doesn't work that way!!!!!"
I think this is salvaged now, though. I have my reasons why I want a gate instead of a teleportation effect; I just have to leave it at that.

Look at the "portal" series of spells and the Create Portal Feat (in the FRCS).

Heathensson, since you're into the Nordic thing, you could have menhirs/stone circles have a similar transportation effect. Standing stones were covered in the Masters of the Wild splatbook, don't know if they got updated into Complete Divine, but they were a druid-oriented "spellholder" that you may find intriguing.

Nodes, from Forgotten Realms: Underdark might be worth looking at as well.

Yeah, I'm just trying to make it "by the book" cos I think I might try to perpetrate like an adventure writer in a minute or two. I wanna at least give the 'Render indigestion, and knock out one of his teeth before he digests me.
